Yall need to learn how to take yes for an answer. If the crowd says the BGMM did great and that they were thoroughly entertained by this performance, I dont understand why yall insist on saying NSU was so much better. This is why Chancellor Martin pays yall no mind. Because a lot of band people have a warped sense of reality. Entertainment is not the objective in a battle, winning is. Stick to coaching QBs. Remember when you said Yeager’s mechanics were off and no one believed you? Believe us who know. Entertainment is wonderful, but it shouldn’t have been the only objective yesterday. There’s a game inside the game. There’s no worse feeling than knowing you’re getting throttled and you know you have nothing for it. You get mad and actually play worse, just like in football.

This is why Chancellor Martin pays yall no mind. Because a lot of band people have a warped sense of reality. There are no points in band. There is no score to say definitely who was better. It’s all subjective. Perception is reality. Everybody you mentioned wears blue and gold and probably has family in the band. When your mama tells you great job you should take it with a grain of salt. We’re not saying it was bad, we’re saying we had a lot more room for improvement than Norfolk did. What kind of opinions are you hearing from people unaffiliated with either school?

Yeah I have to say that NSU was the louder band, because they had more brass instruments, they performed well, but they did not exactly blow us out of the water. They will get the nod on this one.

Also, this seemed a little unusual to me, but it was a good addition… they not only did chants during their stand performances, but they sang a song.

Band geeks are a different breed. Everybody who I talked to at the stadium thought the BGMM did great yesterday. The home crowd went wild after their performance. You guys get hyper-sensitive whenever somebody talks about the band not being at a game, but then turn around and bash your own band when they actually show up. Its a world to which you don't understand...and that is ok. You're looking at things through a different lens....which is also ok. Let folks that have a passion for band chop it up...

Is it just me but the band seems to play the same songs over and over…. After we score , what is the music they are playing to get/keep crowd hyped? When I was was in school they played a good mixture of the classics and new school. I don’t know what they are playing half the time. Most of the time they aren’t playing. IJS

IJS Welcome to the board scaggie, but I somehow think that I’ve seen an scaggie here before. I have noticed that our halftime shows are almost always performed with new songs, and that’s impressive. I don’t know what anyone else does, but I have noticed by way of YouTube that some schools perform the same show throughout the season. I just like it all, and have no complaints when it comes to BGMM.

If you were there at the game and watched both halftime performances you would know who got the greatest applause and who was just getting applause for showing up. Not trying to downgrade the BGMM in anyway, but they did nothing out of the norm of what we've seen them do this year. Norfolk was clearly better with sound, presentation, and song selection. Where I sat at the top on the 50 on the home side, they got a standing ovation and it was well deserved. Their sound was just so clean and full, you could not help but applaud.

From a band perspective, I think what the performance reflected was how we've been away from the MEAC for a few seasons now. Norfolk gave an MEAC performance..... A&T's performance wasn't bad, but it was tamer......
We were Al Jarreau Norfolk was Al Green
Both named Al, but a difference.....

You can't pin recruiting on one specific factor. It's a plethora of reasons why a band can have a down year. I hope the band well beef up some next season due to the fact they are going to Pasadena, CA. As far as recruiting, you can recruit an exceptional player and bring the rest of the section up to his/her level but, if all that shows up are average players and count in the fact that they are young then, this is what happens. It was much worse in Houston sitting next to Southern. Our band has improved throughout the season but, we need the resources to recruit very good talent.
See...this type of day that would need to continue to happen in order for the administration seriously consider giving resources for scholarships. Then, on Saturdays no one wants to hear that Norfolk has scholarships and we don't. It's bs position to be in...my opinion. Norfolk is nothing new...Norfolk has always been a monster of a band. You had people that wanted to be in A&T's band that's why we could compete but, that's not the case without $$$$. That's the bottom line...
