wow, i thought it was a girl too because of the first name and the distance that won the triple jump. what classification is he (1a, 2a, 3a, or 4a)? i know back in my day, all classifications were "combined" together so that you'd get a "true" state champion because "all classes" competed together against "all classes" in the sectionals, regionals, and the state championship. 46'10" would not have been enough to win the boys state championship when i competed in high school back in the mid 70's. 49' plus won the state championship for the guys during my senior year of high school, i finished 3rd in the state championship tnat year with a mark of 46'9" which was pretty good back then, not so much nowadays. nowadays the best boy jumpers are leaping more than 50' in the triple jump. that's why i thought 46'10" might've won the girls state championship. but the guys? i'm thinking 46'10" for a boys state championship might be for the smaller classes like 1a/2a or even 3a, but not 4a. however, i still think a boys 46'10" triple jumper is worth taking a look at, especially since he's local... he won the 4A state meet wow, that's surprising that 46'10" is good enough to win the state 4a meet nowadays in the triple jump. i would've expected a "minimum" distance of about 48' to win the state championship in this day and age...

Because NC didn't have indoor Track on the HS level . Dr Walker would provide my father and Mr Free with a indoor meet schedule for the kids at Windsor Center that wanted to run that allowed HS individuals to compete unattached against HS talent from States that had indoor seasons. If I'm not mistaken we would travel to Richmond/VA, ĎC ,Maryland mostly Northern States . NC had know indoor Track at the HS level. Hell most HBCU's did not run and indoor season back then outside of NCCU, Southern, Norfolk State, Tennessee State and the Northern HBCU's. Our focus was more on the outdoor season..i.e Conference , Nationals and Olympics. Back then . HBCU's have came a long way in indoor Track.

Joseph Palmer former Kentucky runner has committed to A&T I think he will be apart of the jump Squad Triple jumper. Looks like he's been injured the last two years at Kentucky but his personal best is over 50 feet. For reference, the current CAA leader has jumped 47-7. Does this mean we've hired a jumps coach? Just asking.

Just asking. Johnson coached horizontal jumpers when he was at Kentucky. So I guess he may handle those duties as the jump coach. Until they decide to hire one.

wow! i'm honestly "shocked" that the best triple jumps are so "low". nowadays with the advancements of weight training and all, i'm literally "stunned" that the best jump so far is only 47 feet and some change. i've listed below from your link the "top 9" jumps so far and the bottom 3 or 4 jumps are pathetic. i mean, we don't currently have a triple jumper at a&t who can jump further than 41 feet? if not, dang! when i was on the track team at a&t i could triple jump 41 feet with my eyes closed. wow... 1 Poag, Ivan FR-1 UNCW 14.54m 47' 8.5" UNCW Seahawk Invitational Mar 3, 2023 2.4 2 Kevelier, Keven JR-3 Monmouth 14.41m 47' 3.5" George Mason Ebanks Invitational Apr 7, 2023 1.9 3 Brock, Ahmad SO-2 Monmouth 14.26m 46' 9.5" Rutgers Relays Apr 21, 2023 2.5 4 Dokyi, Emanuele SR-4 Northeastern 14.07m 46' 2" UMASS Flagship Opener T&F Apr 8, 2023 2.3 5 Bastardo, Yoerick FR-1 UNCW 13.37m 43' 10.5" Webb Davidson Meet Mar 17, 2023 1.0 6 Martin, Colson JR-3 Monmouth 13.19m 43' 3.25" Big Five Meet Apr 1, 2023 1.2 7 Boddie, Bryce SO-2 Monmouth 12.86m 42' 2.25" Rutgers Relays Apr 21, 2023 2.8 8 Banks, Kievon JR-3 Hampton 12.70m 41' 8" 2023 NSU Track & Field Invitational Apr 15, 2023 -1.1 9 Thompson, Savion JR-3 Northeastern 12.43m 40' 9.5" UCONN Northeast Challenge Apr 14, 2023 2.3

Outside of the Cross Country/Distance races and Throws the CAA has never been known as a Track and Field Conference.
