Martin needs to step in and remind Dr. Ruff that the band must be present at all home football games.
That seems like a no-brainer but obviously after last night, it is not.
Dr. Ruff should not have the final say on when and where the band performs. There are 6 events this year that are simply not optional. The main responsibility of the BGMM is to provide music during home football games.
Everything else the band does is secondary.

Absolutely questioning the decision to not attend a home game.

I will admit I've seen times where some bands will only play the brass, woodwinds are there with instruments in cases, in the event conditions improve.
If they don't then only brass and percussion plays. At least you're still there and supporting aggie football.
I will admit the BGMM has had full early schedule with the late edition of the Detroit trip, but let's stop thinking about them like they're our age. These are still 18-22 year old kids with energy to burn.
But I don't know.

You do know. It is ridiculous to have a band not attend its own home game.
Stop making excuses for the inexcusable.

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses. The band should play period. The cheerleaders were there. The chancellor made it a point about the fact that the school is covering the operating costs of the band, well being at a game is an operating cost. It was bad enough being a no show during basketball season. I don't ever remember the band just not showing up for the first home game of the season or any home game for that matter.

If the band had showed would they just have played in the stands or the stands and field?
If they had performed on the field after all of that rain would that have messed up our pretty "green" grass?

While yall are mouthing off at the band..... does anyone know the exact reason why they weren't there? Maybe their contract is up and they are holding out for a better deal (read: Band Building, Schollys, and a better practice field) at least thats how it works in professional sports
