Which side will the Bands play to ( at this neutral game). I still remember Central’s playing to THEIR side at Aggie Stadium. We must come ready to Play. I remember the dust up during the warmups a few years back. And a Central Player got tossed before the first snap. Our discipline will be tested from the jump… Neutral game but I believe there will be home and away designations for the teams. That said, I hope each band plays, mostly, to their own crowd. The reason I say "mostly" is I think it would be good for both to do a half-and-half thing. I also believe both bands will be in the end zones as opposed to sidelines.

Bro, I would love for 70,000 people to fill up Bank of America Stadium for this game. I just can't think of a recent attendance model that supports even half of that. Central has no preseason buzz and they don't have a fanbase to begin with. And a lot of our causal fans are still jaded by how last season ended. Like I said, I hope Rattler is right though. that’s where a marketing skills come into play. Gotta find a way to excite people so they would want to experience that atmosphere. Bayou classic and Florida classic figured out that side of things. It's already plenty of parties, a step show and a concert. The marketing for the game is there. Just don't see people really biting. Bayou and Florida Classic are in destination cities. Our classic is a home and home with 2 years in Charlotte. It's a good regional matchup

I look at it like the first Celebration Bowl, 30,000 fans would be a success. The schools should bring 25,000 plus 5,000 casual fans. Advantage: It's a holiday weekend. Disadvantage: The stadium is so large, takes away from the ideal game atmosphere.

That number seems way too high. Hope you are right, but I dont see this game drawing more than 25,000. Why not? Due to prices or NCCU not having a fan base? For me right now, the biggest negative variable is the rapid rise in COVID infections. It could go anywhere from holding ticket sales to a minimum from here on out to outright cancelling the game.

Bayou classic and Florida classic figured out that side of things. With me not being there in Charlotte nowadays, it's hard for me to see how any local promotions are going. But the main reason I believe that 38,000 can be hit is because it's the first game of the new season. A lot of people are enticed to purchase tickets on the week of the game (last minute) during WEEK ONE...even those who said all summer, "Man, I'm not going to that game."
But like you said, marketing is the key.
But, again, these rising COVID infections worry me now. I'm starting to hedge on my Fargo trip.

That train has left the station.

I just left a 6:30pm Zoom where a college sports-related annual event was cancelled.
The chances of the game being cancelled is very, very small, but it's still on the agenda of every Game Operations meeting for neutral site games such as this. I just saw the agenda for another neutral site game in this same general time period, and it's there to at least be mentioned. The next step above that would be a game without fans.
Let's just hope that we can get this virus and its variants under control and have an enjoyable and safe football and basketball season across the nation.

I'm just a consultant for this annual event, but it was cancelled by a unanimous vote tonight of their Board and their planning committee. Infection rates are around 32%...which is probably more like 60% because many are now home-testing and not reporting their status to local health authorities.

That right there is the whole problem in a nutshell. It's Florida.

I look at it like the first Celebration Bowl, 30,000 fans would be a success. The schools should bring 25,000 plus 5,000 casual fans. Advantage: It's a holiday weekend. Disadvantage: The stadium is so large, takes away from the ideal game atmosphere. The lack of attendance won't be due to A&T. Call your cousins in Durham and tell them to pick up the ticket sales. A&T has sold its allotment

Definitely won't get 70k because they're not opening the upper bowl (at least that's what they said). I'm thinking 20k since the buzzards already know they're gonna get an arse whuppin'. That said, my wife (buzzard) is going with 4 or 5 of her social work friends (several not buzzards or HBCU alums). Oh and she's not sitting with me because she can't take (soft) the smoke! Welp, I've gained some info. that makes me think my 20k prediction is low. Revising upward to 33,479.

Over 20,000 tickets have been sold to date according to our AD at our AAF meeting and you don't have to guess about who sold the bulk of those.
