I am sure Power 5s have been aggressively courting Ross for the past few years.
Something made him decide that this was the right time to finally say yes. Hope it was just the money and not Aggie Incompetence.

It’s no coincidence that his departure happens less than a week after the major eligibility issue that cost him a championship. My thoughts exactly. I would assume it may have made it easier, but there had to have already been an offer and he was considering it. I don't think in a weeks time an offer comes in, he visits and and meets with their officials, negotiations take place and they come to an agreement. Anything is possible though.

UT probably just got approval for the hire from their BOT this week. This means they've been working on this for weeks now. I can't wait to see who we bring in. Howard's coach is an intriguing candidate. I bet we'll also look at Campbell and High Point's coaches.

Yall thought the transfer portal was packed before watch how many Aggies enter in the next few hours/days.
Job may not be as enticing with mass exodus of roster on heels of self imposed sanctions.
In the words of a great man, "Your reign on top was short like leprechauns..."

Well, our AD has stated he wants a track natty. Does that desire change now? And what kind of hire does he make to solidify that desire if it doesn't change?
I wonder will he follow the same formula he used when he hired Ross?

I'm not the least bit surprised he took the UT offer, Disappointed? Yes, but not surprised with his son finishing out his collegiate career here. The buyout clause in his current contract was a drop in the bucket to UT and y'all know as well as I do A&T simply can't compete with a long term seven figure plus deal from a top tier Power 5. Anyone rational observer with a lick of sense knew it was just a matter of time before the inevitable would happen.
I thank Coach Ross for his taking over and developing the A&T program into a dominant force, a true national contender and the heights of Olympic Gold. I wish him well. Now the really difficult task before the university is to find a coach of similar character and expertise to at the very least maintain the high level of success that Ross achieved during his tenure and not regress into mediocrity.

All these conspiracy theorists. Lol we don't have Tennessee money.
At some point we had to assume he would get a better job

While he did work his way up from high school to little college to another little college he didn't even run track in college. Good guy, but way more qualified candidates out there.

Either way, It's not like we won't have a lack of quality candidates to pick from, especially if we're going to keep the salary close to $325,000.

That puts him as the 2nd highest paid coach on campus. Be reminded Track is a non revenue sport.

Aggie incompetence is definitely the straw that broke the camels back.
Much larger programs have been after him for years. Our department and understanding of athletics is so JV we assume the AD needed permission for the hire from their BOT.
Tennessee relieved their coach of responsibilities on Thursday and hires Ross in less than 5 days.
We have an article published on Friday regarding an ineligible athlete, the women’s 4x100 and 4x400 can’t compete now because of this.
We messed up, the HBCU curse of apathy bit us in the butt, hopelessly we learn a lesson and get off our @sses.
