The track and field program is our most visible sport right now. This requires a full statement/press conference from Earl Hilton. If Hilton makes a statement it needs to a state of athletics address… We are getting zero news out of the department of athletics regarding War Memorial renovations, softball stadium or the impact of instate tuition for out of state athletes. When was the last AAF meeting?

Nah, the focus needs to be on the Regional and National Championships. No need for any distractions. They've already put out a statement and the punishment has been levied. Time to move on to the next topic in the news cycle. The distraction is not issuing a statement concerning the results of the inquiry/investigation.
If it’s “not a big deal,” then say that, too. There’s no real need to name names, either. But give some public finality to the issue.

This annoys me to no end......I don't know the in's and out's about this topic, but there are a few questions I have:
1) When we were in the MEAC, did we ever have a problem like this?
2) Do we have the same compliance department members in place in the Big South that we had in the MEAC? If so, who blew it? If not, how did the new regime drop the ball?
3) Even though I think I know the answer, does the Big South (per chance) have stricter eligibility rules compared to the MEAC?
This is embarrassing to me. It hasn't gotten significant headlines, but stuff like this gives rival schools fodder as a reason to denigrate the success/legitimacy of our program. I know if I was a rival program going after the same track athletes, I'd use this in some shape or form to dissuade a student-athlete (AND HIS/HER PARENTS) from coming to T. Just saying....

The findings were there was a student athlete that participated who was ineligible. The results are that we had to forfeit the Big South Championship. That's it. Nothing else is needed. They don't need to indulge the information on who dropped the ball or if any disciplinary actions were taken. All that is internal to the Department. You are asking for more than we got from the Capitol Building Insurrection Investigation

Just saying.... 1) no clue 2) My earlier reply/post said "Someone in compliance department died of covid during the height of those covid deaths". This is/was covid times and confusion on covid year and semesters of eligibility left. Nothing to do with grades. 3) No And no, everyone STILL wants to run for Ross and come to A&T. Again, it was semesters of eligibility and NOT grades. The athlete still took classes and still got credit for them. The athlete would have been ineligible WHEREVER she was at this semester. Didn't matter if it was at A&T or not or if she made straight A's or not. Nothing more is really needed to be said. Let the athletes competing at regionals compete without any more of a distraction. If you do your own research you can easily tell who it was. Ran in conference and qualified but aint running in regionals. That's an easy find if you are messy enough to do the legwork, LOL.

So here we have what probably happens (I, actually, KNOW it does) at virtually all schools (actually ALL):
- Some want to provide more info. - Others say what's been provided (sometimes nothing) is enough.

I still want to know who "made the universtiy aware" of a potential violation. That implies that the condition was pointed out by others not associated with the university. Hmmm.

So she didn't qualify for the C19 exemption ? Eligibility Offerings Back to Top^ The difference between Division 1 and Division 2 & 3 extra eligibility As of October, all three Division levels have granted fall and winter sport athletes an extra year of eligibility, whether they compete in the 2020-21 season or not. The Division 3 committee took this ruling a step further and announced that 2020-21 spring sport athletes are also eligible for an extra year of eligibility. This means athletes have the flexibility to both compete freely in the 2020-21 season and return for an additional year of competition. Back to Top^ What does an extra year of eligibility mean? Traditionally, a student-athlete has 5 years to play 4 years of their sport. An extra year means a current college student-athlete would have 6 years to play their 4 years. This means, NCAA student-athletes can compete in all or a portion of the 2020-21 season, but it won’t be counted against their years of eligibility depending on their division level specific eligibility rules. For example, a D1 freshman athlete, whether they compete in the 2020-21 competition season or not, is eligible for an extra year of competition. Starting their sophomore year, this athlete competes in 100% of the season through senior year. After their senior season, this athlete’s eligibility count is 3 years and they decide to enroll as a fifth-year senior to compete in their fourth collegiate season. Upon the completion of their fourth competition season, this athlete has the option to compete for one final season, a fifth year, because the NCAA D1 had granted all 2020-21 athletes an extra year of eligibility. If this athlete returns for a fifth year, they will have been a member of the team and eligible to receive financial aid for six year, because their first year of competition didn’t count against their years eligibility. For college coaches, this extra year of eligibility means roster needs may be different for the 2021-22 season. If 50% of the 2020-21 senior class decides to return for an additional year of competition, coaches will need to fill fewer roster sports and possibly re-evaluate the positions they are recruiting. This not only means competition for roster spots will be increasingly more difficult but playing time for committed recruits who play the same position as a returning senior may see less playing time during their rookie year of competition. Recruiting experts Danny Koenig, former D1 and D3 swim coach, and Phill Wells, former D1 football player, discuss how 2021 recruits will be impacted by the NCAA’s decision to give seniors an extra year of eligibility
