I am confuse I thought you could have 200 players on your team as long as there is only 63 that is on scholarship in the FCS.

Not really. The transfer portal creates more departures than in the past, therefore it makes sense not to limit the number of new scholarship players that can be recruited.

Point taken. Roughly 40 percent of the portal football players in 2020-21 failed to find FCS or FBS scholarship opportunities. The numbers of transfers from Power 5 conferences that found new homes was up near 65% on average.

Most of the Top tier players, already know before-hand the programs that are interested in their services before interning the portal .

True,but there are an increasing number of players outside of the "must haves" category from the middle rung down that are floundering trying to find a decent program to latch on too.

Translation - a lot of these past HS "star" guys just aren't as coveted by college coaches on the open market as they thought they would be.
