Just as an FYI...it appears the BGMM will not attend the North Dakota State game. Haven't got the "official" confirmation (an based on past experiences, I never will) but word on the street is the band is staying home. Budget wise, that's probably a smart move. I'm sure some alums will be outraged that the BGMM isn't there to inspire the team but that's a huge cost just to entertain their fans.

I can understand the budgetary restraints, at same time I don't see it as entertaining their fans, I view it as supporting our football team.
Again goes back to the same argument of why people don't attend our games based on our opponent.
We (fans) need to attend A&T home games because the Aggies are playing (not the opponent) same goes for BGMM attending away games to support our football team (not entertaining home fans). I don't care if they don't perform at halftime.
It gets me hype in the stands when I here 'smash sumthi' I would think the team does as well, same as when there's a big turnover and you can here 'Neck' or whatever othe hip-hop ditty they are playing at the time.
But I digress. I guess just go to Houston and have a blast.
I'll be in the Fargo Dome, making as much noise as I can in their place.

You would think on our largest stage ever for us in FCS history with all the recent changes that we would send and showcase our full support. I guess we're still trying to find a happy medium, we have all the HBCU events checked for sure. I guess our step forward doesn't require us displaying what we bring fully to the table for now. If NDSU wanted our band present, they would pay for it.

Band Travel Save the Dates www.ncat.edu/campus-life/student-affairs/departments/blue-and-gold-marching-machine/upcoming-events.phpIt's extremely expensive for the BGMM to travel anywhere. And when add in airfare, hotels, and meals for 200+ students and staff that expense gets larger. Some venues (Houston) provide some funds for expenses but most don't. So the BGMM staff must make a decision on what trips to take based on their limited travel budget. The football fan wants the band to show up at every game, while Alumni in remote cities want them to show up at local Battle of the Band events. No matter what the staff decisions are, they will never make everyone happy.

A lot of wasted travel expenses just to be allowed to play 2 song snippets in the stands with an abbreviated half time show. At this point for excitement purposes I just hope our stand battle selections are better this year at the Houston BOTB.
