UB announces hire of Becky Burke as women's basketball coach
The University at Buffalo women’s basketball program has a new head coach.
Becky Burke, a former Louisville basketball standout who has been the head coach at USC Upstate for the last two seasons, will replace Felisha Legette-Jack, UB announced Wednesday.
After an eight-win season in 2020-21, Burke, 32, led USC Upstate to the No. 3 seed and a first-round-bye in the Big South Conference Tournament this season, but the Spartans lost in the quarterfinals to UNC-Asheville. Burke was the 2022 Big South Coach of the Year as her team went 22-8 this season and 30-23 in two seasons.
Burke agreed to a five-year contract, that runs through April 4, 2027, and she will earn $250,000 a year, with an annual base salary of $190,000 and additional compensation of $60,000;
Wow, only two seasons at Upstate and now a Mid-major coach

This Coach Burke has some huge shoes to fill.Felisha Legette-Jack, a 1989 graduate of Syracuse University and Orange All-American, is home. The Syracuse native and 20-year collegiate head coach took the reins of the Orange basketball program on March 26, 2022. |

The Black female coach at U-Buffalo did a helluva job there. I forgot where she went, but her program was very good.
