just had my entire front yard re-sodded 2 weeks ago with tall fescue sod. thanks to frisco, he recommended tall fescue sod which apparently is more tolerant of colder weather and i can personally vouch for that.
a couple of days ago, the dmv area got hit with "freezing" overnight temperatures in the low 20's two nights in a row. but my tall fescue sod held up extremely well, not a single blade of my new sod turned brown. in fact, it retained it's rich green color despite freezing temperatures.
and not only that. because we experienced those freezing temperatures, i was not able to "water" my new sod every day like i am suppose to do because my outdoor water lines were "frozen". yet, my tall fescue sod still didn't miss a beat despite 3 days without watering!
maybe our aggie stadium maintenance crew should consult with frisco, dude knows his stuff...

The only thing you can really sod athletic fields in NC with is bermuda. Tall fescue looks better but grows slower and is not as durable.

my list is as follows in order of priority;
1. fix aggie stadium grass. either install field turf or figure out how to keep our natural grass “green” throughout the entire season and should be completely green throughout spring practice. 2. replace corbett center upper level bleachers with “new bleachers” akin to what’s behind each basket on the 1st level. don’t need seatbacks on the upper level, “good quality” bleachers that are comfortable will do and bleachers also allow more seating than seatbacks. a new basketball facility is not imminently needed. 3. “full size” 100 yard (not 60 yard) indoor practice facility that can accomodate both football and track. 4. complete memorial stadium upgrades. only reason i placed it so low in terms of priority is because it is already funded and scheduled to be done. 5. this is my “dream project”. do what ever is necessary to convert holland bowl to a regulation sized soccer field with “field turf” to be used for women’s team soccer and intramural sports. perfect location for women’s soccer! students coming out of williams cafeteria can hangout for soccer games after eating dinner. bring in a “dj” in front of williams cafeteria during games...

Not enough room. The distance from Williams cafeteria to the end of the street is probably not even 80 yards.

#1 - Fix the Football Stadium's grass. We'll discuss Items 2, 3, 4 & 5 later. I find it hard to believe we are an agricultral university and can't grow grass!!! That's unbelieveable and doesn't speak well for our agricultral department and I would think it's a big negative for a football player we are truing to recruit...

I also gotta believe that some of the 40 times our guys ran at the Pro Day last week would have been a lot faster if they were on a better surface.

Plus those two young ladies in Holland Hall that actually want to study for exams will complain about all the noise from the practice field. don't know about nowadays, but when i was an undergrad we played "intramural sports" in the holland bowl (i.e., flag football) and we often had "music" blasting at the holland bowl with or without intramural games. honestly, i don't think a soccer game would keep anybody from studying. heck, don't know if they still do it, but the bgmm used to "march" thru campus "every evening" after practice and play music from the practice field all the way to frazier hall and i don't remember a single soul complaining that they couldn't study. besides, you can play soccer games at 5:30pm on a weekday and the game would be over by 7:30pm at the latest. plus, you can play games a lot earlier in the day on weekends...

Based on your examples, you're as old as me! Back in those days any student complaints would have been ignored. But those days are gone. I think today's Holland And Curtis Hall students would complain if there was an ongoing game in their front door.

Yeah, if we’re going to do it we need to stop half-assing everything and do it correctly instead of squeezing it in somewhere.
That way from this point forward we can have proper amenities for potential moves down the road instead of building things large but low quality. No point in having a big this or that with “limited sight lines,” “poor field conditions,” “low quality looks” etc.
I suspect a number of the newer programs across the board started smaller with high quality as opposed to building big and low quality and just expanded as warranted. Whatever we do as far as the next five or 10 or 25 facility upgrades needs to be done with the end product in mind. Personally I’m not sure how much more money I’d put into Truist for football. If we’re being honest outside of the press box it’s a dump. Same with Corbett.
It’s time to look the part.
