BDV,
The BDV folks that met at Kick Back Jacks (KBJ) yesterday, after the Spring Game, "forced* me to start this thread.
What are the top FIVE (5) things you believe we need to do related to our athletics facilities?
I'll start (off the top of my head):
1. Field Turf football field 2. Indoor practice facility where the Softball field and practice field are located now. It would include room for an indoor track and weight room. Seems there's more than enough room. 3. New basketball facility (minimum 10,000 seats) 4. Complete baseball field upgrades
5. Football locker room redo

Most likely, it'll be an outdoor facility but I also want to see indoor facilities for football and track. 3. Long-term plans but this is in the Chancellor's vision. 4. Happening as soon as the season ends in multiple phases. We're also going to see Moore Gym transform into volleyball specific facilities.

1. Field Turf the practice field. 2. Field Turf or re-sod the stadium field with a more durable grass. 3. New basketball facility. I would build only a 6,000 seat arena and use the money to make it nice, not big. Suites, padded seats, TVs around the concourse, concession and lounge areas. (for reference, High Point arena holds 4,500, price tag $170 million) 4. Build a comprehensive athlete amenity facility/area with study areas, film study rooms, lounge/video games, meeting rooms, nutrition bar, training rooms for massage, rehab, etc.
I only put four items. #3 would destroy the budget.

Immediate fixes 1. Fix the field (don't care if its turf or natural grass) 2. Individual seats and backs for the reserve sections of the stadium 3. Replace the fence
Long term 4. Replace Corbett 5. Indoor Track & Field Facility

Hilton said soccer is in our future. Any clue as to where a soccer field would go?

Indoor Track & Field Facility To make it 6 immediate fixes, painting the railings in the stadium. Every single inch was chipped & faded and it’s embarrassing

Every single inch was chipped & faded and it’s embarrassing That should be a part of maintaining the stadium to paint every 5 years. Speaking of chipped and faded, the claws on the scoreboard need some love also. These are the small things that make our facilities look "ghetto". We're talking about big things but I agree the small things are even more important. BTW, I hope they do a good job on War Memorial Stadium. So many of our buildings were not built as designed because of either underestimating the budget at the beginning, a long delay between design and construction, or straight budget cuts. Aggie Stadium was supposed to be a concrete structure, the new student center was supposed to have a lower level, the A&T Four dormitories were supposed to have another floor, etc. So often we have to compromise key components of the design in order to get the project done. When we do that, the project looks new, but cheap.
