I'm asking this question for a reason.... Has anyone had a man disrespect your wife while in your presence? If so, what did he say and how did you react?
I have not NSS. It appears that Will has experience with this though and his words and reaction are inconsistent. It was Jada who disrespected him, herself, and their covenant with what she called an "entanglement" for public consumption. He didn't shout at her or strike her and perhaps he didn't feel she disrespected him. But, from where I stand I truly believe if you replace Chris Rock with David Spade what we witnessed does not happen. My conclusion is Will may have some emotional and mental challenges and what we saw is a manifestation of a much larger issue. Either way, his behavior was out of pocket and I'm about that life of defending my bride.

Has anyone else?
The only reason why I'm asking is that if no one has undergone this experience, I don't feel we should be judge and jury on how Will acted. We can always say and think what we would do in such a scenario......but a lot of times, when something like this goes down, the results don't end up like how you initially thought they would.
And again, stuff like this is ABNORMAL. A man usually has enough class and decency to NOT crack on a man's wife while in front of them, particularly when there's a medical issue at the crux of it.
I just can't recall off-hand another black comedian (or any comedian) cracking on a man's wife....especially while he's at her side. If someone has some examples, please share.

I'm not sure you need to share a personal experience in order to have an opinion on what happened. We comment on a lot of things around here that we have not personally done or had happen to us.

It wasn't as if August Alsina was out in public boasting about his "exploits" or rubbing it publicly in Will's face. That was Jada's doing. That is not an apt comparison. Again, folks keep on saying if this person or that person did the wise crack.......MOST MEN HAVE THE DECENCY NOT TO CRACK ON A MAN'S WIFE WHILE HE'S BESIDE HER....so you can keep the names coming (ie. David Spade, Andrew Dice Clay, Richard Pryor, Big Jay Okerson, Corey Holcomb). I'd like to see an instance where a woman got cracked on for her personal appearance, particularly while her husband was beside her. This is NOT NORMAL.

You missed my point.....you or anyone else can have an opinion. What I'm saying is that if this scenario happened to you (ie. Your wife getting clowned for a medical issue while you're standing/sitting beside her).....I just have a feeling some (if not most/all) of us would not handle it very suavely either.

I am not at all absolving Chris Rock. The joke was in very poor taste. And disrespect is disrespect. I'm certain you and most have not experienced their wife sharing an affair for all to consume. I'm saying Will has seen this movie before, but reacted to the boogeyman differently.

I didn't know either. But when you make a public joke about somebody's physical appearance you are really rolling the dice. "Playing the dozens" is one of the pillars of the Black comedic tradition. I know you remember Def Comedy Jam. Ever heard of Richard Pryor? Now imagine if everyone who got cracked on in the crowd during those eras caught feelings and wanted to come on stage and fight? Moreover, making fun of people in the audience kind of comes along with the territory at the Oscars too. Comics or hosts routinely and historically have joked about the insanely rich superstars in the audience and the "victims" of those jokes typically don't take themselves that seriously and are able to let the jokes roll off their backs in good fun. I guess we are at the point when everyone is going to catch feelings and want to run up when a comedian is making a joke now. i think there's a big difference between a person in any comedian's audience being picked on by the comedian for the clothes they're wearing or the hat they're wearing or in response to "heckling". but picking on someone because they suffer a "DISEASE" is entirely different! its not so much that rock picked on will's wife, that's not why he got "slapped". the problem was the "distastefulness" of rock's insult. i don't care who you are, you do not make fun of someone's "illness"! in my book, that's "off limits"...

And this is Jada just a week before the Oscars. I'm done with the conversation because I think its run its course and I'm sick of Will and Jada's antics. I am sure she will have a Red Table Talk about the whole thing within a months time. They parade their family's business all out in the open and I don't want to partake in any of their mess. I quit. LOL.

.....and I still wonder how some of us would behave if we were in that same predicament. I really don't believe we would be as civil as we would like to think we'd be. A man clowning your wife in front of you over her medical ailment.....hell to the no - I don't buy we'd be "Obama" or "MLK civil."

LOL. Just for the record, alopecia isn't an antic.....Jada hair loss didn't come from leaving relaxer on for too long or a Jheri curl attempt gone horribly wrong. When I look at this clip, she comes off like a woman who's trying to keep a brave face while still trying to cope with her ailment. But hey, we can agree to disagree....

The major difference is that she is in the industry, she was only a target because she is famous. If she was wills wife and not in the industry Rock wouldn't even have mentioned her. He was joking another celebrity which is what happens at those events. I doubt Rock even knew her condition... What is Will protecting her from? There was no threat or disrespect...Will overreacted because she has emasculated him throughout the years.

1. There is no evidence that Chris knew about Jada's illness, so the argument he knowingly cracked on her is ludicrous . 2. Will OVER -reacted ,and it had nothing to do with the joke ,he initially laughed at the joke ,then suddenly became outraged . 3. Her public video from a week ago saying she didn't care what people thought about her condition ,makes him look even worse . 4. This is Chris Rock we're talking about ,do you think they brought him out to read from a teleprompter ,no they brought him out to ad lib and entertain the crowd . 5. There are plenty of comedians who specialize in doing this ,T K Kirkland is one who would talk about yo girl in a wheelchair and dare you to step on the stage . 6. In these days and times one has to pick and choose his battles wisely, bowing up because you all in your feelings can get you beat down or all shot up,it ain't worth it .
