I remember Blackstone at Hillside...talented. I guess it's all about fit... Change in "level" tends to show if talent at the lower level is legit.

Maxell makes the most sense. We do not have a floor general with the requisite handles and no one to handle a Boston type big defensively. Perimeter shooting is a concern as well. Oh yeah. If the head of your snake (PG) in basketball is lacking, you're in trouble. In my playing and coaching career, I always endeavored to cut off the head (run him to death, pick him a lot, deny him the ball, etc.) Based on our BSC experience, I believe we need 2 good shooters on the court at all time. Sometimes it was hard for us to have one because I believe our best shooters were McNeil (though she slumped quite a bit), Scott and Harris and they were on and off.

Troy, I don't view any of them as shooters. Scott more slasher, Harris mid-range/bully ball, and McNeil as you stated is streaky.
The 2 good shooters you want are not on the roster today, but will be needed in the CAA. Imagine a legit PG with McNeil as the off guard with Darks playing against the opponents 2nd PG. Could work.

I think we still need a true PG. All of our guards are combo guards. We also need another shooter. Yes we never filled the hole left by Deja Winters, and it showed in multiple games.

Could work. unless our players (both men and women) have access to corbett or moore gym during their free time to work on their shooting, we're never gonna have the best 3 point shooters on our teams. yes, mcneil is a streaky shooter, but that's not unusual even for a good shooter if they don't have access to basketball facilities during their free time. i believe that mcneil would be one of the best college shooters in the country if she had the freedom to work on her shot during her free time, and i don't mean on an "outdoor" basketball court where the wind is a factor. i was literally "floored" when i heard that our players don't have access to corbett or moore gym during their free time. most colleges allow their players 24/7 access to their basketball facilities. i promise you, it would make all the difference in the world...

I think that Kelly Darks can be a more than adequate PG if she improve her ball handling skills and decision making prowess.Improving her shooting would also be a plus. But height and size is a must in today,s game there is no substitute. We need to get bigger up front hopefully with skill players not projects.

I thought so early in the season, but not with the increased competition defensively. She still has trouble getting the ball up the court but is a solid combo guard.

i agree that kelly-darks is very capable of playing the pg position. mcneil ain't bad either, but i'd rather she concentrated on "scoring" rather than distributing the basketball...

I'm still trying to understand the idea of redshirting in basketball.

I'm still trying to understand the idea of redshirting in basketball. to further develop your skills as a true freshman and to get stronger in order to be better prepared for significant playing time. why waste a year of eligibility only to appear in "rare" games during garbage time when you can spend a redshirt year to improve yourself to become a major contributor and eventual starter for 4 years? i think its a matter of significantly increased playing time over the course of 4 seasons for true freshmen. but for upperclassmen, its usually because of injuries or an opportunity to pull up your grades in the classroom... Sent from my SM-G950U using proboards

Do you recall a freshman male or female basketball player who redshirted and then made a significant contribution to the program ?
