i don't dispute that a&t should make a statement as well as the bsc. but "statements" don't work. "action" works. what's upon us now is bigger than a&t and bigger than any conference. statements are cool, but they don't change anything. blm made numerous statements during the george floyd protests and managed to get 1 cop convicted. but did congress pass any laws that changed anything? not to my knowledge they didn't, definitely not regarding police brutality. and guess who blocked it? yep, sc senator tim scott. and guess where tim scott went to college? no other than bsc member "charleston southern" who a&t is "supporting". so yeah, i guess its alright to start with "statements". but there needs to be some "action" to deter these kinds of things that happened at presbyterian from happening in the future. i wonder if our folk would feel differently if it had happened to our women's basketball team instead of howard's lacrosse team? first there were "bomb threats" and now there's this. folk need to "wakeup"... Question what actions did A&T take when our football players confronted GW players after the game ? Did A&T's administration , athletic department spring into action and hold those individuals accountable or did they just hope that statements would be suffice to make the incident go away ? Just asking . |

That's understandable and that is my point about action and statements . If no action was taken other then an apology on out part to GW and the Big S**it , then what precludes Presbyterian from reciprocating in the same manner . |

Yesterday at 10:35 a.m. ESTPresbyterian College, a school in Clinton, S.C., is investigating an incident that took place before a women’s lacrosse game Friday between the Blue Hose and Howard, one of only two Historically Black Colleges and Universities to field a Division I women’s lacrosse team. “There was an incident about an hour before the women’s lacrosse game Friday vs. Howard University where a group of our students outside of the stadium were yelling inappropriate and hateful comments, including racist remarks, toward the visiting players and coaches,” the school said in a statement. “First, let us be clear: No visitor to our campus should be subject to that kind of treatment, and this type of behavior is completely unacceptable. It is in no way aligned with the expectations and values of the college. We apologize to the Howard University women’s lacrosse coach and her players, and we deeply regret the experience they had on our campus.” The statement was signed by Presbyterian Provost Kerry Pannell and Will Harris, a history professor and chairman of the school’s Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Council. It said that an investigation into the incident had begun and “any student found responsible for this reprehensible behavior during the event on Friday will face consequences. Such behavior does not stand at PC.” A Howard spokesman said the school is conducting interviews about the incident and offered this statement from Athletic Director Kery Davis: “I am deeply troubled that some of our student-athletes were subjected to slurs and abusive language before the women’s lacrosse match on Friday vs. Presbyterian College. Howard does not condone such disgraceful behavior in any form, and the use of harmful language such as this runs counter to the values of this institution, which celebrates respect, diversity, and inclusion on its campus. We appreciate Presbyterian College’s initial response, and demand a thorough investigation be launched. We condemn this deplorable behavior, and will continually support, defend, and protect our Bison.” |

I find it amazing that you have a sporting event on your campus and not one accountable admin. can/could stand up and hold this gentlemen accountable. An apology on Twitter after the fact may as well be an insult to the injury. Putting out a tweet doesn't make anything better because, there's a culture in the surrounding community that believes the behavior is okay. Keep the tweet and ACTUALLY do something about this bigotry. Whose being held accountable? They are young white boys, they will be slapped on the wrist, it’s a part of their rights if passage, I dont remember the year but, Katy Currick interviewed the heads of a White high school Wolfpack who were in some cases raping the high school girls, she smiled while she interviewed them and they were slapped on the wrist at home. IMHO our female teams should not travel into these location, without make escorts beyond the staff, obvious but not aggressive. I remember a game at VT back in the day, I started in left field near the home stands, hurled their threats and nucca name calling, coach told me not to go near the stands to retrieve foul balls etc, and when they picked up a foul ball they wouldn’t throw it up me but over my head, who knows, in the final game of a double header we began a comeback and runners in scoring position. The heckling got so bad they called the game on account of bad lighting, ( they had lights on) several of their Caucasian players where real cool( may have been a setup)and invited us to parties, But Coach Groomes was hot and said no to us being on campus. |

GW should leave the BSC since our players followed theirs to the bus trying to fight to cause bodily harm and they had to get a police escort 🤷🏾♂️

I'm in a wait and see mode on this one. If several students are expelled (as they should be) then my ire doesn't pass the individuals involved. If there is no further action then I see a problem.
I don't see how us leaving the conference forces the individual schools to step up to the plate and address the issues some of their students have. If anything it allows them to continue being asses. Us having a seat at the table can force some internal changes regarding student conduct at all these schools if done correctly.

Did you forget Howard is in the MEAC? that solves the problem of a&t being "obligated" to send its teams to presbyterian and once rejoining the meac, there will be no "obligation" to go there. you call it running away from a problem. i call it "avoiding" a problem... |

we've got plenty of seats at the table in congress, but did that change anything? has there been a voting rights bill passed? has there been a police brutality bill passed? last i checked, the answer is "hail no".
so how in da hail is only "1" hbcu in a conference full of predominantly pwc's gonna change anything? oh, i get it! the bsc and presbyterian will issue a doggone "statement" that the majority of bsc schools don't give a dayum about...

I can only imagine how much worse it would be if we had no seats at the table in Congress. Actually I don't have to imagine. My grandparents told me about it when they were living.

i wanna know what a&t will do if one of our teams gets treated the same way at presbyterian (or any other bsc school for that matter) as howard did. well, i guess another publicly issued "statement" will be enough to handle that situation, huh?
man, that's like the nfl and the "rooney rule". minorities complained that there's not enough minority head coaches in the nfl. so what does the nfl do? in so many words, they said "yeah, let's "appease" these people of color by issuing a statement that every nfl team will interview at least one person of color for every head coaching job that opens". and guess what? that appeasement will keep them quiet at the moment while everybody is paying attention. but over the long haul, we will "subtly" hire whoever da hail we want to hire.
and that's the purpose of issuing public "statements", to keep folk "quiet" long enough for them to think that the problem has been solved while in actuality, nothing has changed...
