AggieOne, is it just me or are we hitting the road a lot harder than last year at this time?
Coach Makrinos is hitting the NE hard!

AggieOne, is it just me or are we hitting the road a lot harder than last year at this time? DB coach has been in the Northeast heavy and that’s where a lot of it is stemming from. Offering some guys with good namesake and that’s great to me because I’m tired of classes filled with “safe” option guys

With our offseason staff changes, and new conference move to the CAA next year, we have made some much-needed adjustments and expansion in our overall recruiting footprint, our basic philosophy and yes, even our budget. The early signing period this year will have far more important significance than it ever has for us since its inception back in 2017. Staff upgrades are taking place simultaneously as well in the two new assistant hires.
We've already seen some of those initial changes already begin as in the upgrading of our incoming men's basketball recruiting class for this coming season.

It's pretty apparent, at least to me, that Coach Makrinos is recruiting a good amount of kids from programs in the Northeast that he probably pinpointed and had meaningful contact with during his time at Kent State last season. I would remind you they were a bowl team a year ago so the talent level is there.
The recent change in state policy allowing for non state funding source (AAF) for in-state tuition for out-of-state athletes is allowing us to now have a much larger recruiting footprint. We hope to make it work very much in our favor before 2023 and CAA play begins.
Works for me.

At the minimum, we are extracting a whole new recruiting strategy that’s getting us into homes and schools we could never enter before. It’s really making me think about things.
