jackson state is the "new" a&t relative to hbcu football. we have lost our "shine" and now jsu has it... Um, it's Deion with the shine, not JSU. When he leaves JSU drops back to middling in the SWAC. Watch and see. as long as he's at jsu, then jsu will get the "shine" as long as they keep winning. you're correct that primetime is responsible for the "shine", but not just because of his celebrity popularity. if jsu had an embarrassing losing record, neither jsu nor coach prime would have that "shine". so yes, coach prime's celebrity popularity brings a lot of attention to jsu. but its the success on the football field that brings the "shine" to jsu. i mean, look at tennessee state's coaching staff? they have far more celebrities on their staff than jsu has. but nobody is talking about tennessee state's football team because they lack the success on the football field that jsu has. i totally agree that when coach prime leaves jsu, it is likely that jsu will fall back to the pack. but we're not talking about the "future", we're talking about the "present"... |

The players used to win went to JSU BECAUSE of Deion. The coaches at TSU, all together, don't have nearly the shine, moxie, bravado, celebrity popularity, etc. as Deion and that's why they and TSU aren't being talked about as much. |

We had the No. 1 program in black college football ... and we decided to just put it in storage for almost 2 years. Proverbs 29:18 The fact that we took a nap this season isn't what upsets me. The fact that our head coach is as confused as the fans about how to fix it...that upsets me. I honestly don't think we will be any better next season. |
