older alums don't travel out of town to a basketball tournament just to attend a "local nightclub" where they don't know whether its a "safe" environment or not. there's been "shootings" associated with nightclubs and if you're from out of town, you don't know which nightclubs are "safe" or not.
older alums prefer "live entertainment" that's specifically targeted to their demographic (i.e., ghoe alum concert) and they prefer environments that are "safe" such as convention centers or hotel ballrooms (i.e., ghoe alum concert).
ain't no older alums gone go "bar hopping" when they don't know which ones are "safe" or not. meac sponsor their alumni concerts/parties at the downtown marriott hotel ballroom (short drive from the scope) and have "boat cruises" from the norfok harbor, both "very safe" environments, not no doggone "nightclub"!
besides, ain't gone be no big bsc crowds anyway. so its a moot point...

You do know the BSC from 2019 was held on respective campuses? And most likely during spring break
The first round was played at campus sites at the home of the higher seed. The quarterfinals and semifinals were played at Gore Arena in Buies Creek, North Carolina, home of regular-season champion Campbell. The championship game was held at the Dedmon Center in Radford, Virginia, the home arena of the highest surviving seed, Radford.

Charlotte, my hometown, is the largest city between DC and ATL. It is no where as vibrant as either but it is not a sleepy town either. Hail, I attended the Ledisi concert last night and will be attending the Hornets opener tonight. By the way, it's just Wednesday.
There is uncertainty as to what the Big South tourney will bring to town next year. I have my doubts on any significant economic impact to the region. Plus, the tourney will be played at the home of the Charlotte Checkers (AHL hockey team) located just east of the uptown loop. This is NOT a 'walking distance to restaurants and bars' destination. So, if older alums and the like are coming for just the games, this may work out well for them without all of the nearby party distractions.

There hasn't been one venue in a long time. And in the past they would play the entire tournament at certain Big South Schools before only play a few games of thetournament at the top seed. Having the tournament a a neutral facility is really important and good for the conference. Personally, I think Greenville would have been a better location (Even though it's a really large facility). Although Asheville is the best location for a mid-major conference to host a tournament, due to the size of the Harris Cherokee Casino Arena in Downtown Asheville. The SOCON uses it as their tournament facility and it's only around 5-6k seats. The Bojangles Coliseum is nearly large enough to host the ACC tournament. Either way, it's going to be fun! Hope y'all are ready to raise your competition level. Winthrop's going to be really good this year again. Asheville should be good too. You came in at a good time when Radford, High Point and Hampton are rebuilding. Campbell should be really good though. Looking forward to seeing y'all play us at Asheville this season!
