Excellent pickup. A 3-star Raleigh kid with strong academics - 6-9, 240 power forward from Millbrook HS. Spent a year at Hargrave Academy before originally committing to Arizona State in 2021. He had scholarship offers from College of Charleston, Elon, High Point, Hofstra, Illinois-Chicago, Mercer, Miami, UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Wilmington and Western Carolina. Will have 4 years of eligibility (Covid red-shirt).

Huge pickup for you guys. We were really hoping to see him show up in Wilmington. I think you're going to find it's easier to recruit good players to the CAA. Good start for next year, Will is a stud.

F Full of potential but had a tendency to play small sometimes. Granted he was on Varsity as a Freshman and sophomore. A true inside presence though. Will TV use him properly is the question?

Bruce Beckford had it. Ron Jackson had it. Bruce Jenkins had it. Every other big we've had over the past 20 years has struggled with this. If Dunc Powell & Felton have that type of hand-eye coordination... we're going to be in some serious business. The floor spacing should also be noticeably better next year. And those two things change a lot about how you can use players.

If he gets the ball in the post I can assure you he is either going to score or get to the foul line. He also plays within himself. He does not try to do something he can't do.

Powell - 4 Star (6'8) Felton - 3 Star (6'8) Watson - 4 Star (6'5) Elliot - 3 Star (6'2)
In 2 years we will be a good team if none of the players transfer!

I'm not sure I've seen more than that. Of course we're star gazing. It's one of MANY, "indicators" (including coaching, desire, system, etc. etc. etc.) that sometimes turn out and sometimes don't turn out. Here's what I know: I'll get a lot more excited with a kid with 5 stars than a kid with no stars, though I know there are several things that go into it. As an example, I expect we would have been losing our mind if the 5-star Dudley kid would have chosen us as opposed to unc.

But we can agree that all things start and end with Coaching , development and player execution . Even 5-4-3-2-1 to none need proper Coaching to elevate there talents to the next level . Without that you only have a group of exceptional players running around doing their own thing . There are no ready-made players regardless of how many stars they have .
