The TE and you must be related Are you talking about a person or the Position ? I just know football and have coached TE's and understand their value and the value of a team using all of there weaponry. The TE is the QB'S best friend when he gets in trouble .

A&T has won without utilizing the TE. So how do u explain that? This conversation is not about winning , read the banner please. This conversation actually started in the middle of a thread celebrating Ron Hunt. I thought it was disrespectful to Ron and his accomplishments so I moved all the posts and created this thread. His statement was A&T has won without utilizing the TE, so his statement is just as much about the tight end as it is winning and is therefore germane to the topic. I think an answer wouldn't hurt. In the words of Bill Hayes, "you dance with the date that brung ya." If we ain't been using the tight end and been winning anyways then we weren't going to start doing it after a two year layoff. We probably won't see it this weekend either. We probably will start seeing it in tight conference games though, if you catch my drift. As much as it stung watching us ignore numerous competitive offensive advantages, we still had a chance to win running a limited scheme. I suspect we'll keep it close to the vest until we're in the thick of the conference race. Not beating Furman cost us a ranking but if we can get through the conference unscathed (and that's a big if) then it won't matter. More importantly it gives conference opponents less to see on film. And you want to be a playoff contender. That Bill Hayes way of thinking won't work in the playoffs. Having a predictable opponent is easy to prepare for . As far as the above goes, instead of reading the first sentence and only replying to it, please try to read for comprehension. I've placed in bold some of the other statements that I believed would be read when I typed them. In summation I'm not supporting the failure to use the tight end. I'm seeking to understand the reasons why we've failed to do so very often to date.

This conversation is not about winning , read the banner please. It’s a valid question. The TE is the safety valve, if you will. You have to be crazy to believe you can come out week to week and throw bombs all game long...there must be some kind of scheme for the passing game to be successful and incorporating the TE in that scheme will carry an offense a long ways. Especially, if you have a strong run game. We have been able to win the MEAC but, we are in the Big South now, not saying they are better but, the football is different. We saw last week, we have to be prepared from an execution standpoint. Furman qb is not better than Fowler but, why was his numbers better? They ran a qb friendly offense that gave him easy throws, mostly to the tight end. There is no reason we cannot do the same.

and that my friends, is the answer to the question.
That and we won primarily with an opportunistic defense, a running game, and the kicking game.

Right now, he is probably our second best "ball carrier" on the team. We definitely need him running the ball. If we are going to let 5'6, 130 pound Baker run the ball 8 times a game, we definitely need to let Ifedi carry the rock some. I think he needs a whole half package of his own, complete with the TE’s, his long passes lack speed he can hit the TE’s on crossing patterns out routes and red zone situations. Give it up, this team will not use the TE
