I can't get the image to load, but y'alls Non-conference Schedule just got released. Y'all have NO D1 home games, all D2 and below. How is that possible? No offense to you fans, but that's bad scheduling from a coaching standpoint. Don't get me wrong I like your coach. Just doesn't make sense. I hope NC A&T comes to Kimmel Arena this season since we'll only play each other once a year since we're in different divisions.
So far UNCA plays at (Mountain Rival) Western Carolina, UNC, Indiana, UT Chattanooga, Tennessee Tech and at home against ETSU and UT Martin. Waiting for more games to be announced.
Big South Carolina Division (Reminder)
*The North Division is going tough (HPU and Radford are down this year compared to most years though) *UNCA and Winthrop and Gardner-Webb lucked out, although CSU should be decent this season
North Division: 1. Campbell 2. Hampton 3. NC A&T 4. High Point 5. Radford 6. Longwood
South Division: 1. Winthrop 2. UNC Asheville 3. Gardner-Webb 4. CSU 5. USC Upstate 6. Presbyterian

ncataggies.com/news/2021/8/2/mens-basketball-n-c-a-t-mbb-releases-non-conference-schedule.aspxWe don't like it either but I'm not sure if it is our commitment to help those schools financially (we played them last year also and Greensboro College is local), or balancing the fact that the team goes from California to Florida twice to New Jersey. The other explanation is no D1 team wanted to come to Club Corbett. LOL. App State opted for a scrimmage again, not a real game. Who knows?

Who backed away from the table between us and NCCU? Also, 3 SoCon road games? We couldn't get ETSU at home? Lastly, 3 sub D1 games?

I never go to UNCA's non-D1 games, waste of money cause they don't count with regards to strength of schedule for the NCAA Tourney. But we usually have 3-4 D1 Home Non-conference games.

I was hoping to be able to justify staying up so late to watch the non conference games. Apart from Wake Forest and Stanford nothing floating my boat.

I was hoping to be able to justify staying up so late to watch the non conference games. Apart from Wake Forest and Stanford nothing floating my boat. I think all of the D! games will be important. This team will need to figure out chemistry foremost because most have not played together. It's also important because you can't just lose non-conference games and use the proverbial excuse of waiting for conference play anymore. If you can't come out of this non-conference schedule with a winning record, you will struggle in conference play. I would expect a 9-5/10-4 record. Jones can't use the ENTIRE non-conference schedule to figure if his convoluted system will work outside of the MEAC. He'd better figure it out before November 11.

its an acknowledgement of having so many "new players" this season. seems like every year i have to explain that when you have a lot of new players, the team must establish a new "identity". its not like playing "pickup ball" at the playground when you simply pick any other 4 guys then go at it.
to be successful playing organized team ball at "any level" requires "team chemistry" which does not occur overnight when you have a lot of new players. so to me, this schedule acknowledges the fact that we'll have a team that's full of guys who have "never" played team ball together before.
don't matter how much 4 star talent you bring in, they still have to learn each other's games and so does the coaches. ya can't bring in darn near an entirely new team and expect them to click on all cylinders right out the blocks. it takes "TIME"...

Hopefully, Jones has gathered enough talent to have a winning season. I have never been a proponent of building a team top down with jucos and transfers (1 & 2 year players) instead of bottom up with talented freshmen with each class moving up to eventually replace the original pieces. This method may take a couple of years to build a solid foundation, but eventually it may pay rewarding dividends. So far, the beginning of the season has been a struggle to win for the teams. Even against D1&3 teams. However, Aggieland fans may not be patient enough to build a solid "bottom up" program.
