With all other sports unrelated to football, the Big South makes sense. We need to be realistic about this football experiment. This conference currently contains Kennesaw St, North Alabama, Robert Morris and Monmouth. We already know Kennesaw and UNA are leaving. From a football perspective only, I don't feel very comfortable with the lay of the land in the Big South. How many more years is Robert Morris gonna grow tired of sending its football team to the Carolinas. Same thing for Monmouth. Y'all thought we had travelling concerns.....they have travelling concerns on steroids.
I have significant concerns about this loose assortment of football schools that collectively make the Big South.....and again, I'm talking about football only. However, this is the sport from which most other athletic programs financially feed from to stay solvent.
How confident are people about the future outlook of the Big South.....and again.....FROM A FOOTBALL-ONLY PERSPECTIVE.

Not very confident...the BS needs another football program in the Va-NC-SC footprint for sure. Robert Morris and Monmouth are clearly out of place and it's only a matter of time before they exit. The questions is who? What school would be willing to make a move from say the Southern or MEAC to join the Big South. Is anyone moving up that could be considered?

While both would love to join another conference for Football, no one else on the east coast wanted them as members. That could change with the realignment that's beginning but hopefully, we'll be FBS by then.

I am almost certain that this time next year you will have had an announcement that NCCU and Norfolk State have joined the Big South. Both schools BoT's have been in discussions about the lay of the land. The MEAC is getting ready to fold. We are going to be fine.

At some point Presbyterian may start fully funding football again🤷🏾♂️. They are a FCS independent, transitioning to the Pioneer league.

How does this conference fail to schedule A&T vs Campbell in our inaugural season in the Big South? From a football standpoint, we are the closest 2 BS universities to one another in the whole conference....yet we don't play them. I think that's a big misstep, with conference officials failing to realize how this game could attract many eyeballs in this region. I agree…Campbell could end up being our biggest rival in the BS! I can see both teams traveling well to both campuses. Plus their coach seems to be a little cocky…they’re the type of team you love to beat! They are both former NFL players!

Both schools are going to see how the new look MEAC performs for them before making any moves, which will doom the conference.

That delta virus has got to be SLOWED DOWNED/STOPPED or we won't see much of any football in the fall. Keep your fingers and toes crossed while stroking your rabbit's foot. This virus is getting very serious out there, and especially with all of the nutty conservatives and their pseudo scientist selling disinformation. It's not just the conservatives, liberals Democrats , Independence and Republicans it's about misinformed individuals Black , White , Asian and Brown . With a large following of Black people that are refusing to get vaccinated also and they all are not conservatives . Our people are playing a part in the BS also . Saabman, thank you I wasn't aware of that.

Why would Monmouth wanna leave. Most Southern school is Gardner Webb starting at 22. Big South is a free trip to FCS playoffs.

If they survive and get stronger then so will the MEAC

I'm with aggie94, NC Central and Norfolk State are highly likely the next dominoes to join the Big South, possibly SC State, we'll see.

Do you believe the BS will be looking to add more HBCUs to their conference?

Do you believe the BS will be looking to add more HBCUs to their conference? YES...I think that there are a few (probably 4) that the BSC would possibly entertain.
I'm hoping that no current MEAC schools will be in that discussion. I think that there is already one school on-the-cusp of committing to joining the MEAC in the near future.
