Lots of white shirts in that picture which means lot of Freshmen or first time players. Just hope we have a lot of upper classmen returning this year. I was watching one of their Instagram vids the other day and noticed some upperclassmen with white shirts on...but idk. According to the video the Juniors and Seniors came to camp first so that they are tight when the rest of the band comes. The Sophomores and Freshman will come in together since the Sophomores couldn't march last year so the DM said it's like having a double freshman class this year.

I hope by A&T going to a new athletic sports (Big South)conference this year, that the BGMM will prepare to play more aggie chants/ short snippets. Good Aggie attendance will be there,so let's support our team with noise and pom poms like the swac fans do for there teams. Aggie enrollment, academics and athletic have grown leaps and bounds, now it's time for the fans to become more vocal and not remain to be wine and cheese Aggies. Band directors, cheerleaders, and fans let be more aware and get into the game before and after a touch down. If we don"t the new schools will show us how it's done and we will just be sitting at the game looking dry like most of the time. My point is (Wake-up) don't have the Aggie football have to raise the helmets up to get us to cheer for them. Aggie fans it's our turn now, and hopefully we will see how it goes at the first game. Aggie Fan, Aggie Pride! IDK I often wonder where to place the 'blame' for our DRY gameday environment. IMO a lot of students barely understand what's going on during the game and most likely only attended High School games prior. Most only cheer after a touch down because that's all they know ( and haven't been taught differently). My Suggestions: 1. Chants could easily be taught during pep rally's (With band included). 2. Band has to step up their musical selection in the stands to get students involved. The Student/Band relationship is lackluster IMO...(Move them to horseshoe) 3. Pom Poms! It would really pay off visually. (Students and Players would benefit) I think my suggestions would be fairly easy to implement. My question is...does our leadership see a problem with our gameday environment? Or do they compare us to the Hamptons of the world and see no need for change? Band/fan/alum/student relationship Gotta start some new traditions/chants... and yes.. please... bring da pom poms out.... I hate to say it... but several bands/crowds have something to "Hello, How have you been?" and its lit. We might ever be on the level of Tuskegee and The Shed but we can at least try something

Guess we will have to wait and see what impact that Athletic/Band fundraiser will have on the numbers....(Hopefully it will be complete by next year)

We are not going to increase our numbers until we offer more scholarships. The band has done all it can do to support recruiting. Period!
For the past decade, we've had the most celebrated HBCU marching band in America. From leading the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade to dominating performances in the Honda Battle of the Bands. We've had thousands of views on social media sites and we've had historic performances at UNC Charlotte and UNC Chapel Hill. Students and fans love the BGMM but if we want to enlarge our band, we have to offer more students scholarships. We've had the type of decade that other marching bands, HBCU and PWI would love to have. But if we don't invest more in the students that are the foundation of the bgmm, we will not get bigger.

Our version was a lot like this one - better in a few parts, worse in a few. The crowd loved it. Just kidding about that last part - they sat on their hands like they do everything else lol! I dunno what to say about crowd involvement - talk to most Aggies and they definitely love the band, but they sure don't show it.

On a sad note... Chauncey Walker passed yesterday! If in the past 50 years, you got up early to attend the Homecoming Parade and saw the A&T Alumni Band, you saw Chauncey Walker. On the front row, leading the trombone section. He was always there! Chauncey was a 1968 engineering grad that always loved A&T sports and the band. He was one of the founders of the Alumni Band and remained active throughout his life. We will miss our beloved band brother...especially at Homecoming!
