Patience will indeed pay off for Terrell Robinson. Just a month ago, the Mount Tabor High School senior sprinter had no offers to run track in college despite having the nation's best finish of 6.27 seconds in the 55 meters at the time. In the month since, in which he has added a Millrose Games championship at 60 meters (6.72 seconds) and Class 4-A state championships at 55 (6.24 seconds) and 300 meters (35.25 seconds), he has taken visits to Texas and to N.C. A&T. Q: Now that you are in a position of strength, what are you looking for in terms of a college or a program? Robinson: "I need a good coach that has been there, done that before, someone I can learn from who has actually experienced it. I also prefer a program with resources. The better the resources, the better you run: A sports therapist on site, masseuses, cupping, dry-needling, everything you need to perform well. Terrell Robinson took his time on his college decision. In many ways, he waited long enough until the fit was right. But it turned out, he didn't have to look far at all. That's because Robinson, a North Carolina native who attends Winston-Salem Mount Tabor High School and is a member of Run U Xpress Track Club, signed with Saint Augustine University, the men's program which recently hired Olympian Bershawn Jackson as its head coach. Jackson also coaches Robinson at Run U Xpress. What other schools was Robinson looking at? "Texas, Iowa and North Carolina A&T," Robinson told us. "I was probably leaning towards [North Carolina] A&T before my Saint Augustine's visit."

He got that job at the perfect time to convince Robinson.

However, being that I am in Raleigh, and I hate saying this about a fellow HBCU, if facilities matter (not even talking about athletic facilities) he will not be long for Saint Augustine's University.

I can feel ya on that aggie94...I try to be supportive of HBCUs whenever I can, and sure I have some A&T bias...but as much as we complain, the facilities at A&T are much better than what is available at St. Augustine.

By the same token the facilities at any number of schools are better than those at Ayantee. That same argument could be used against us time and again by every school we're competing against.

He runs track and their track is new. What facilities we talking about? LOL. Also, private schools can work money a little different than state supported schools. He didn't mention money, but its a factor somewhere in this, believe me. I know St Aug campus is lacking, but congrats to Bershawn on that one. Thats a major steal for them.

Ummm... that facility is at least ten years old now. There is no pressbox or restroom facilities in the stadium. As far as money I can tell you firsthand that there is not a lot of money they are working with to move around. And SAU does not do tuition discounts. All that said, Yes, congrats to Coach Jackson. As said earlier, relationships do matter in these decisions.
