On this family trip I’ve been on this month I’ve stopped through some campus. It’s been years since I’ve really been through any large pwi campus other than UMD, and their campus doesn’t move me. Having been through Ohio State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Louisville, and Cincinnati’s campuses I have no idea how any hbcu beats a p5 program or even a solid mid-major for a kid. These schools’ campuses are cities within themselves with coliseums for stadia. They own the surrounding town as well. Miracles do happen, but all the social consciousness in the world won’t make us a first choice IMO. A transfer destination? That’s more likely. I went to Ohio State for grad school. OSU football is not only the driving force of social life in Columbus, it's one of the leading forces in the state. OSU football is more popular than ANY professional sport in the state, Bengals, Browns, Cavaliers, etc. Everything revolves around OSU football. And to be a star athlete on that campus is to be a demigod. Folks worship you and the seas part for you. This doesn't even include the under the table kickbacks that the athletes and their families get from boosters and alumni. It's a corrupt and exploitative world and college football is a billion dollar industry. When you've seen it up close, it's very easy to understand how Black kids with athletic talent get seduced by all of that.

i agree with everything you posted. however, a&t withdrew its support from an hbcu conference in order to give it's support to a bunch of institutions that are no different from the pwc's you criticized. how ironic... So A&T should stay in the MEAC no matter what? Even if the conference isn't working for US? I'm all for supporting Black organizations...business...schools...etc...but sometimes, and I hope I'm wrong...but you sound as if you think we "owe" the MEAC something. The relationship should be mutually beneficial, not a "just because" partnership. Perhaps our leadership was wrong...that has to be proven. That said, they reviewed the options and how it fit with the universities plans and decided it was best to move on. I'm not sure what's next for A&T sports in the future...what I can say is that without some changes, the MEAC is not in that future. "EVERYTHING" that a&t has accomplished as a d1 school occurred as members of the meac. so i totally disagree that the meac has not worked for a&t. did you say that when a&t brought home "multi-millions" of dollars from the celebration bowl? were you saying that then? there is "nothing" that a&t can accomplish in the bsc that couldn't be accomplished in the meac. white folk "ice" is no colder than black folk's "ice". the grass is not "greener" (excuse the pun) on the other side. the meac not working for a&t is just your opinion and dr. martin/hilton's opinions, but that doesn't make it a "FACT". my point was that those bcs schools that apparently ya'll feel have a "dark history" of embracing "white supremacy" is no different than the pwc's in the bsc. you disagree? if so, you've been "hoodwinked" more than i thought. you don't think the pwc's in the bsc ever embraced "white supremacy"? you don't think the bsc never intended to add hbcu's to the bsc "until" it became necessary for their very own "survival"? you don't believe that? you really think bsc schools have "ALWAYS" wanted to add hbcu's to their conference? really? are you serious? my attitude towards the bsc is a matter of "principle" which i refuse to violate. ya'll can support a conference full of schools that have embraced "white supremacy" for decades all you want, but i ain't. i refuse to be "hoodwinked"...

You making it seem like A&T needs to be in the meac in order to be successful. They leaders of the university already explained why they decided to move from the meac to the big south and it has nothing to do with them turning their backs on black schools or needing validation from the whites. Fact of the matter is A&T not the only school that left the meac 4 other schools dipped too so you can’t be blind to the facts that the meac got something fishy going on that a lot of folks don’t like.

BS Martin and Harvey had a dust up with Commissioner Thomas and decided take there sports elsewhere. The two schools that dropped to D2 do so because of their own financial problems, which was not the fault of the MEAC . The schools that moved to the SWAC at least one of them FAMU was planning to leave the MEAC anyway. So if you are smelling fish follow the scent to Martin and Harvey's office .

I’m sure they ain’t wake up and say let’s just leave the meac. Also why did Bcu and famu leave? Why did we leave? Y’all trying to make it seem like we turned our backs on hbcu’s or sum. Then you got Hampton that dipped as well too. But once again why are all these schools just up and leaving why are we the only school that’s getting the side eye especially when they explained the details behind the conference change.

Oleschoolaggie,
I think everyone on this board is aware that you not in favor of moving to the Big South do you have to hijack every thread about it ? Geez 😒
You said your own family member chose to play at UNCG over T and that was a personal decision. Martin, Hilton, and the Board Directors made a choice to move us out of the MEAC and as the folks guiding the Aggie athletic ship they had every right to do that based on what they decided was sound judgment. Did you throw shade every chance you got at your family member for choosing G over T? Ain’t nothing change about us just because we in the Big South we still just as HBCU as we ever been. It almost like you treating this as if we merged with a PWI …like UNCG
Let it go bro 😎!!!!

As far as I’m concerned the meac is doing ok, could it be better? Yes of course but every school had its own reasons to leave.

He is right all white people support the GOP, and only black people voted for Biden.
And only black people voted for Gov. Cooper
I can’t believe both won election with only the black vote

You don’t like the decision because you don’t like change which I have seen by the way you act on other threads. You like to be in comfortable positions and places you know and are familiar with all you know is meac. All I’m saying is you don’t have a legit reason to not like the move that can actually be backed up with facts, it’s just your opinion and you ranting.
