The heavy turnover in personnel and the very targeted recruiting that was done this spring suggests he's not going to be waiting on conference play this year.
It appears all the programs know they are going to have to hit the ground running from here on out. The wait and see MEAC days are over with and Covid won't be a factor this fall.

I think it's best that we all approach our hopes for the men's basketball program with caution & trepidation. It's not wise to get hyped over the signings of these young men...Remember how juiced some folk on here were when Harry Morrice & David Greer were signed? A combined 14 feet of 1.4 ppg & .9 rebounds per game...
Until we get a bona fide 4 AND 5 & some guards that can shoot & make free throws, we won't be competitive in anybody's conference on any level.

BS you have to play players to get numbers . In both cases they were not on the court for any extended period Of time . What was amazing to me is how Harry could preform Ohio University 13 point and was pulled, Illinois 6 points 1 rebounds got pull again, Stanford University 10 point pulled in actuality Harry was more productive in a short. Of time then players that played for more minutes . But I do know this if Jones doesn't learn how to properly use his Bigs it's going to be a long rookie season in the BS .

coach jones has a very difficult job on his hands. i like the talent that he’s adding to the team and i like the players who we have returning. but as i keep tellin’ folk almost every year, whenever you have a large turnover of players, its gonna take quite a while for that talent to “mesh”. it will not happen automatically “immediately”.
this past season we lost our starting 4 and 5, both were “major” contributors to our success in 2019-20. so i knew it would be very difficult to replace jackson and haygood, and given that kwe was out with an injury to start the season and harris missed several games as well, i knew we would have “chemistry problems” incorporating the new players (t. jones & q. jones) to replace jackson and haygood. and since parker and harris missed a bunch of early season games, i knew it would take quite a while for this team to form a new “identity”. we also had to replace another starter (a. jackson) which turned out to be more difficult than i thought it would be.
so coach jones is gonna have an even bigger problem next season because he’s likely gonna have to replace “at least” 3 starters, possibly 4. you can’t just throw 4 or 5 “new players” on the court who have never played together before and expect them to perform like a “well oiled machine”.
so there’s gonna be some “growing pains” early in the season just like it was last year, but it shouldn’t be a surprise. the “talent” will be there, but the “chemistry” won’t...
