Jackson State is clearly head and shoulders the best HBCU Football team this season. However, they did not play to their potential against Alabama State for half of the game.

They are putting butts in seats... 53K for their Homecoming ... The game with ASU may break 60K and the game with Southern @ Southern will sell out

JSU caught lightning in a bottle. Deion changed things from the time the Falcons drafted him. Mouthy, showy, the center of attention. He knew what he was doing. To quote a prominent rapper he's a business, man.
He brought his drawing power and two top recruit sons to the table when he showed up at JSU. Wherever he went was going to get an immediate boost based on them boys and his personality. I don't see Tenn State or Morgan lighting it up with their former pro coaches. We're doing pretty well with ours, but a lot of that has to do with the support of the administration.
For all the positives he brought to JSU I still cringe at them coonish aflac commercials. Too minstrelish for my taste. Otherwise I'm happy for them. He's finally unleashed the beast. But realistically Deion is a rich Alvin Wyatt, period. Wyatt was ahead of his time.

That's all cool......the question I asked is what makes Jackson State "head and shoulders" the best HBCU football team? The beat SWAC competition, barely beat a DII team and barely lose to a bad FBS team.......on what planet does that equate to them being the best HBCU football team?
....then when you say "head and shoulders"......I just gotta push back on that. And for the record, I'm happy with what he's doing at Jackson State. I just don't see what he's done YET that makes them the best HBCU team around.
Does anyone believe JSU would have beaten Furman, Duke or Kennesaw St?

With how we passed with ease on Kennesaw, and that being a strength of JSU, I definitely think they would beat Kennesaw. They also have the dline and backers to stop the run same as us.

You never know until you step on the field against somebody. And they really haven't beaten anybody of note. So hey...
We gained our respect over the years by beating teams outside the conference. That's how they'll need to gain theirs imo.

They beat Delta State 24-17.....this is a DII team that is 2-5 and is ranked the 56th best team in DII. Y'all keep on getting fixated over how big or quick their team looks.....or how many fans are in the stands. IRON SHARPENS IRON.....these dudes ain't played nobody of note. You all know how the SWAC historically does vs FCS opposition.....yet you believe they are just gonna just beat Kennesaw St when JSU ain't played no quality FCS programs of note...... Sorry, not buying it.

We had to stop a 0-5 team on the last drive of the of the game to avoid an L...and yet we had our chances to come out of Kennesaw with a W, so I don't know why its far fetched to think they could beat Kennesaw.

They ain't beating Kennesaw. They'd do the normal hbcu nut up and find a way to lose. But that's neither here nor there.
Deion gets great talent but a lot of these FCS teams get great talent and they coach them well too. Not that Deion's boys aren't coached well but as NSS stated iron sharpens iron, and they been playing rubber against rubber.

Oh, I agree with you.....we have beaten nobody. But we've played better competition this year and for the past 5-6 years compared to JSU. On a neutral field vs Jackson St, I like our chances. Furthermore, look at the SWAC standings. JSU is in the weak East Division. Prarie View, Alcorn and Southern are all in the Western Division. The Western Division is flat out better. It's too early (right now) to even say they're the best team in the SWAC. The Celebration Bowl has proven our superiority over the SWAC. We got 4 rings proving it. So all of a sudden, JSU is "head and shoulders" the best HBCU when they've only beaten SWAC competition? Nope - not buying it.
