That does seem drastic! That more than half the max. Is there a story link?

That does seem drastic! That more than half the max. Is there a story link? Not sure about the validity of this. But... we also have to remember that FCS Football is not a head-count sport. So the 63 scholarship equivalents can be divided between 63-85+ guys, based on the coach. So if you have 85 guys on scholarship through the spring (many of whom may be seniors), that's not necessarily indicative of a mass negative release. We'll just have to see.

That does seem drastic! That more than half the max. Is there a story link? Not really. The NCAA rules state that there is a maximum of 85 players that can receive full or partial scholarships with 63 full equivalents. They also can have an unlimited number of walk-ons on the team.

Got it, thanks. But still, like saabman said (differently) that would be bad optics.
I couldn't find a link.

Man Prime has all of these coaches in their feelings. I haven't seen him once talk trash about any other team, yet everyone is taking shots at him. I hope they can back it up come fall because he is just surveying the field this spring. Once he get the horses in the stable come fall it may get ugly. Sometimes it's better to be quiet.

And to that point, Maynor will always keep him a decent qb and if your secondary is suspect, prepare to be in for a long day.

That's fair. There's two sides of the story right, you just see it differently the me. And I know Maynor pretty well, he's a close friend of the family, so I know he's this way on and off the field. But the way he and other coaches are throwing gas on the fire, or take offense to what Prime says in regards to him having high expectations for his program and HBCUs as a whole just may not be the way to go. But coaches are competitive so I'm sure it's bulletin board material for themselves and their teams. This is all too familiar, similar to when Broadway came in to the MEAC, although Prime may be more in your face. Broadway told everybody "you better beat us now" because he knew he didn't have the horses yet. You know the rest of the story with him riding off into the sunset. Soon as Prime cuts all the dead weight and those 3,4,5 stars are fully in the program, revenge may be sweet.

Thing is, and this sort of piggybacks off 4XL's post as well, Deion came in with a whole "I'm the HBCU Jesus" platform. You have coaches who have been here for ages working their asses off, and this guy who would've laughed and made fun of our programs if we tried to recruit him is gonna come in and make us his pet project? Where were you when St. Paul's was closing, FAMU athletics was repeatedly getting cut off at the knees, Ayantee was mired in a record losing streak, or Savannah State had to schedule Oklahoma State to pay basic bills?
I get Deion's points, but I get EVERYBODY else's points too. Maynor was tame imo. Honestly I think his experience at Hampton (especially against Broadway lol) humbled him some. Maynor took a d-2 HBCU to the national championship game. What's Deion's coaching claim to fame?
