I like the Harry, Filmore, Powell front line. But I like Harry at the 4 and Filmore at the 5. We have to maximize Harry's outside shooting and Filmore's inside aggressiveness. I'm not sure Beatty will automatically start, he is a Duling clone. I also think one of the freshmen will crack the starting lineup by midseason at the 2. BTW, we still need a PG.

guards are a lot easier to recruit than bigs, guards come a dime a dozen but bigs donāt. iām not worried about replacing our departing guards as long as harris returns. hate to say it but iām not a big duling fan. i havenāt seen any video on beatty yet, hopefully heās not a duling ācloneā.
i hope kam comes back but iām assuming heās not. assuming heās not, its time to turn the team over to harris as our starting pg and fill in the other roles from there. i like harry and filmore as my starting forwards, both (depending on āmatchupsā) can play the 4 and 5 positions.
hopefully powell is versatile enough to fill ty lyons spot at the 3, but you never know what youāre gonna get from ātrue freshmenā. i havenāt seen beatty play yet but he averaged double digits at lasalle, so tentatively iād start him at the 2 position.
so my way too early starting 5 looks like this;
harris ā pg beatty ā 2g powell ā sf morrice ā pf filmore - pf

This lack of respect for Harris' game is interesting.
Let's remember that Harris will have had a full year within Coach Jones' system. Not to mention we should have most, if not all (Harry included, hopefully), on-campus this summer for workouts and chemistry building.
The kid was a 4-star coming out of HS and just needs the right system to flourish in. He's a scorer and will most likely lead the team in scoring next season.
So none of y'all can sit here and really believe Blake Harris is going to be coming off the bench for us come November 2021. Right?

Capable replacement rather than needed upgrade.

I'm going to disagree on Beatty not being an upgrade as a 2 guard. Here is game footage from the past 2 seasons for Beatty at LaSalle. www.nbcsports.com/video/highlights-la-salle-explorers-70-iona-gaels-64-otGiven the game speed and level of competition... I think it's difficult to say that Beatty is NOT an upgrade over Parker and Maye. If a player like Beatty can give us 11-12 ppg on 9 shot attempts at Big South-level... that's actually a big improvement. We just need consistent play out of that spot.

I think a lot of this is house cleaning. There were about 3-4 kids who were redshirts this year that were probably promised spots. Added in with the three new recruits and I think this is where some of the movement is coming from. The Jones boys didn't cut it and it was not a given that Parker and Maye would have been granted an extra season at the beginning of the year. Just my thoughts. Welcome to the board! I'll play this hypothetical game for a quick sec. The walk-ons that I know of are: Trey Crews Ahmad Hamilton Jibril McCormick Justin Brooks Out of those, the only one I could see getting a scholarship next year is Brooks, who has a brother down the road in Chapel Hill by the name of Garrison. But his name is not in the transfer portal... yet. And that's why we're doing this transfer portal thread. You never know who's gonna show up. Welp. Let's continue to watch the portal.

Garrison Brooks paired with Duncan Powell would be one of the best front lines NC A&T ever rolled out. I hope weāre doing all we can to recruit him to play with his brother. Word of caution: His father is an assistant coach at Mississippi State. š

There are way more "no"s on the recruiting trail than "yes"s. So that's to be expected. And other schools will have their value proposition. But yes, we should always stick our noise in & provide our value proposition as well. You hit none of the shots you don't take.

We tapped into the transfer portal/JUCO ranks this weekend with the commitment of 6-5, 205 pound wing Demetric Horton from Raleigh, NC (Garner HS) from Purdue-Fort Wayne in Indiana (Horizon League) via Independence CC in Kansas. He's a long athletic body type with tremendous range on his jump shot and plenty of hops. Averaged nearly 30 points a game out of HS. Also had a offer from Eastern Michigan. He'll have two years of remaining eligibility with us.
Even had his own ESPN Top Ten moment this past season
