Since FAMU signed a new deal should we expect one too? Ours expired in 2020 On a different and just utterly disheartening note FAMU was able to get a better deal than the entire MEAC as a conf. The MEAC and Nike agreed to a five-year deal announced this week to make the Oregon-based company the league’s official apparel, accessory and equipment brand though 2020. The 13-school league already had a Nike shoe deal in place since 2005. The new deal begins Sept. 1 and affects 10 schools: A&T, N.C. Central, Bethune-Cookman, Coppin State, Delaware State, Florida A&M, Md.-Eastern Shore, Norfolk State, Savannah State and South Carolina State. “From a budgetary perspective, it’s obviously exciting for the whole conference,” Hilton said. “The good news is very good. I haven’t seen the actual contract; that’s done through the conference. But we’re looking at $100,000 in product annually, and then deep discounts after that $100,000. Depending on what you’re buying — whether it’s shoes or socks or uniforms or workout gear — you’re going to get a 35 to 50 percent discount. I’m guessing a little bit on that, but those are the numbers I’ve heard thrown around.” greensboro.com/sports/college/update-a-t-meac-sign-apparel-deal-with-nike/article_d6833116-c527-5d81-8ac0-fa0eec9d82fc.htmlWhat kind of Sh!t is this

Yeah, how do we get in contact with the GOAT, NC native MJ, and 1 up these fools. I feel like right now in general public eyes these other institutions (JSU & FAMU) are winning, we need to not get left behind, feels like we are losing a grip on our "hottest thing in HBCU" moniker from Jay Walker. We aren't playing football and it was a SWAC broadcast bit I was expecting it at least once this past weekend.
Let's keep our head in the game

We purchase our gear directly via the 3rd party vendor BSN. We need to reach out to Nike/Jordan Brand for a direct relationship. The truth is our brand/name has NEVER been hotter than it currently is now. We are the largest HBCU in the country and have been for several years now. We have been the most dominant HBCU football program in the country for more than half a decade. In 1960 we launched the sit-ins in America and the ENTIRE REST OF THE HBCU WORLD followed our lead and thus transformed our nation. And I simply don't see the powers that be leveraging that narrative properly in order to maximize and expand on this current moment we are having.
I suspect that with the type of public branding moves that FAMU is currently making it won't be long before they retake the title as the largest HBCU in the country and I am certain that they will NOT squander the moment to let EVERYONE know about it when and if it happens and leverage that for their benefit. And that concerns me that we are failing to do the same while we currently hold the crown.
Even our little sisters down the street won three MEAC basketball tournaments in a row (2017-2019) and got an ESPN documentary out of it. SMDH.

The overwhelming success of the Capital Campaign and the fact that we own almost half of Greensboro now, shows that we haven't done much squandering. Mr A&T turned his Voice audition on Prime Time TV into a infomercial for the University.
I do wish we were playing Football right now, but other than that our exposure is great.

Mr A&T turned his Voice audition on Prime Time TV into a infomercial for the University. I do wish we were playing Football right now, but other than that our exposure is great. I don't think anyone is denying the success of our capital campaign or the fact that we have expanded our footprint in Greensboro. But that's what an institution on the move is SUPPOSED to do. The question at hand is how can we use our recent institutional success to expand our impact beyond Greensboro, beyond NC, and beyond our own regional backyard? FAMU just created a partnership with one of the most popular athletes on the PLANET. In partnership with NIKE he made a shoe for them and is going to outfit their entire athletic program. FAMU's band was part of the NBA All-Star game. NCCU created a multi-episode series with ESPN highlighting their coach and their program. These are MAJOR marketing moves that were created by some hustling on the part of their administration's and their campus's marketing teams. I'm pretty sure our marketing team had nothing to do with Mr. A&T making his way on to The Voice. I do think that's great and I am glad he shouted out A&T while he was on there, but how is our campus administration proactively leveraging our current status for the WORLD to see?

Fortunately or unfortunately, A&T has always taken a humble approach to marketing of the school, carefully picking and choosing when to market accomplishments, rightfully fearing that the boogey man is right around the corner looking for something bad to happen. But these times require a new bold approach. We are slowly letting UNCG rise from the ashes to be "Greensboro's Team". Make no mistake that the current racial climate plays a part. Their Black chancellor and Black basketball teams and 5,000 Black students are the perfect cloak around what's really happening. Everyday is a fight to remain relevant, so don't sleep.
Our niche is the student who wants a quality education AND the HBCU experience, but they need to know that such a thing exists.

www.sportico.com/leagues/college-sports/2021/florida-ams-lebron-nike-deal-features-millions-in-gear-and-star-promotion-1234624451/In an interview with Sportico, Gosha said that the outlines of the agreement came together in late December. Gosha previously worked at Jacksonville State and Middle Tennessee State, and during his tenure those universities scored notable apparel deals. He came to FAMU in December 2019 after serving as Miami’s associate AD for facilities and operations. Through a public records request, Sportico obtained a copy of the deal, which is due to commence in July and commits Nike to provide $3.3 million worth of retail product to the university over the deal’s duration. As Nike’s “Flagship HBCU,” the sponsorship proposal states, FAMU will continue to receive the largest product allocation of any HBCU university during the term of the contract. The agreement also has Nike spending $200,000 each year in marketing support for the university, as well as providing $200,000 annually to FAMU’s Rattler Athletic Fund, for the purpose of supporting scholarships for students whose academic pursuits are “aligned with Nike’s business objectives.”

Everyday is a fight to remain relevant, so don't sleep. THIS!! 1000 times THIS!! Sometimes I get the feeling that we are just on cruise control while the truth is we need to be hitting the accelerator at ALL TIMES. It can't be overstated how athletics is the "front porch" of institutional marketing. We have to strike while the iron is hot, because these things are cyclical. Who are we partnering with? What type of national/global deals are we developing to increase our brand? How are we leveraging our current popularity to further increase our brand? Beginning this fall, the CB option will be GONE. The only other national exposure that even compares are the occasional March Madness upsets and the Herculean challenge of actually winning the FCS championship. None of those are certain. But what is certain RIGHT NOW is that we are the largest HBCU in the country with the most dominant HBCU football program over the last six years. So let's use that to develop some strong, high profile partnerships, outfit our teams in the DOPEST athletic gear possible, and further solidify our brand on a national level.

Has anyone even thought about the fact that moving to a White Conference could have something to do with A&T , HIU and TSU not being considered for some of these projects by Chris Paul and LeBron James. Because all 3 have the pedigree ? HBCU programs and Conferences are the enVogue thing with the heavy Focus from the NBA and it's players and the NFL to a smaller degree. I can not help but think that A&T's move to the BS has hindered it's chances of Contracting with Paul , James or anyone else that is interested in the development and exposure of the HBCU Conference's and Institutions footprint. As far as MJ goes I'll pass on that dude homeboy are not . I think we missed the boat by making that BS move .

So, yeah...
