but wouldn't they need to "mark" the upper level seats akin to aggie stadium reserve section since they're not already marked? that might be a small extra expense but its kinda hard to assign seats if the seating is not "marked"...

In this situation, it is easier to JUST MARK THE AVAILABLE SEATS.

Just playing Devil's advocate for a little bit .I looked at a photo in today's edition of the News and Record ,from the men's game and it appears that there were groups of maybe 15 to 20 people in clusters with an equal amount of spacing between groups . This photo showed the bleachers behind where the team benches are and the scorers table ,and a portion of one of the end seats . Most of the shots that I saw during the game were when the camera went into the stands ,that's when I saw the dude in the hotdog costume , could it be that fans were grouping up to get "in the shot" and then spacing out after . Just an observation from someone who wasn't there ,would love to hear feedback from those who were there .
I agree with everyone that all we need to do is mark and enforce whatever arrangement we want ,just wondering if the optics in some shots were different than the actual seating arrangement .
And yes I tried to copy and paste the photos ,so for those of you who more technically literate ,I'm talking about today's edition ,sports section ,photos #1 and #4 . #1 shows the spacing ,and #4 shows fans dancing during a timeout ,and it looks like they are all grouped up with no spacing ,BTW everyone had a mask on .

We went to the game and assigned seating was clearly marked throughout the upper deck but the students chose to ignore it and clustered together in mass to do what they do. The DJ asked the kids to separate by groups and leave a empty row between the groups on couple of different occasions. They would comply at first but invariably drifted back together once the music started.

It’s difficult to do with bleachers much easier had they open up the lower section on board sides and pushed back the bleachers up top...
On second thought .... that creates a problem for social distance rules for the teams.
Best way would be to open up lower half opposite teams for reserve socially distanced seating ....then 250 kids on each upper level call it a day

Doubtful the kids will follow the rules, when put in an environment that is conducive for being together. I'm glad we only have 2 more games and I understand they aren't selling/providing tickets.
That fixes that, if it's true.

I was at the game and fans were socially Distanced and masked up. Now the students on the other hand not so much but I’ve also watched PWI games as to where the students were bunched up as well so let’s not make this a “oh us people can’t follow directions debate”. The biggest issue for me was lack there of “University Police” in the stands making sure that students were socially distancing and only sitting with “their group” and 6 ft from the next. As the DJ said one row , skip a row.
Bold because I’m yelling : IT SHOULD HAVE NOT BEEN THE HYPEMAN/DJ JOB TO TELL STUDENTS THEY NEEDED TO SOCIAL DISTANCE. SMDH
SOMEONE LET SOMEONE KNOW MORE SECURITY NEEDS TO BE ENFORCED BECAUSE THE ALLIED FOLKS WERE JUST THERE FOR A PAYCHECK.
Poor handling on that part, but it was great being in there and seeing an event happen with fans as we all, well most of us all knew could happen. No I’m not going to get tested , Do you get tested every time you step outside and go grocery shopping for your home and around hundreds of people while doing so? No, oh ok. Bring on the football games cause I’ll be in attendance
