It was great to see fans back in Corbett but the look from TV seemed as if mostly everyone was bunched up together in the stands?
Surely we can't be that irresponsible?

i think the governor's order to allow attendance at indoor basketball venues caught our folk off guard. it "seems" to me that they immediately concentrated on how to manage the ticket sells in a timely manner but didn't give very much thought to managing "social distancing" in the arena.
definitely was not a good look on tv. i find it difficult to believe that dr. martin condoned what i saw on tv relative to "social distancing"...

At least they all had masks on. Theoretically, you can be safe with masks on less than six feet apart. Social distancing is absolutely NECESSARY if no masks are worn yet is an extra layer of protection when masks are worn. The optics were a bit shocking and surprising though.

Hold up OSA almost all the institutions that allow fans to attend games have basically the same problem happening. Some have made corrections for Social Distancing. I think Martin will make the necessary adjustment before the next home game .

The students were situated on the ends. The cameras didn't show the sides where the adults/general admission were well spaced out.
It wasn't as bad in the student section during the women's game. But it was (predictably) not well distanced during the men's game. Fingers crossed on testing this week.

We are did you expect otherwise. They did what kids do group up for social contact. They got there wish now we will just have to deal with the out come or not . That has always been my point, they were acting just like what they are...COLLEGE STUNDENTS! I can't understand why we would expect any different. They were not going to come to the game and sit 6-feet away from who they came to the game with...just doesn't work that way, if you are looking at it from a logical standpoint. All Fall, I debated with Thrilla and he maintained we could have a season of football and follow the protocols. He's right...we could but, the fact of the matter is we won't!!!

First of all, you lost that debate. You and all your LOG cronies said it wasn't safe to play any sports during a pandemic. That was the issue we debated all fall, and you were proven wrong.
BTW: Students will follow protocols if you enforce protocols. This weekend our university basically told the kids to just show up at the ticket office and Club Corbett with a mask on.
They did not have rules in place to enforce social distancing, so of course there was little to no social distancing on display.
That was the responsibility of our school leaders and they really dropped the ball.

I'm not trying to play homer here, but I was at the both the men's and women's games Saturday. There were marks on the seats as to where they wanted people to sit for social distancing. Those marks were similar to marks seen at grocery stores, doctor's office, etc, with respect to implementing the 6-foot rule. The announcers at the game were constantly reminding the crowd to wear masks and respect the distancing rules. Even the DJ paused the music at halftime for a good piece of time to get the students more separated in the stands.
Of course, I ain't naive. A&T wanted to make some coin off that game. To be honest, the men's game looked as if there were WAY MORE than 700-800 people at the game. Someone who was there as well ---- tell me what you thought the attendance was.
I just don't know what more A&T could have realistically done to really enforce the distancing rules outside of physically going up into the stands and telling students to spread out......then, we would have made national news for a students vs police altercation.
Outside of going back to ZERO FANS, there ain't an easy solution here. If someone has one, enlighten us.

Super easy solution: Assigned/ reserved seats in the upper decks and security on hand to enforce the seating policy.
Once the first student is escorted out for not following the protocols, everyone else will fall in line.
These kids are not criminals; they just need to understand that this is a global pandemic and the school is taking its protocol enforcement seriously.

I was there...I think they realize and understand that they will not be able to enforce Covid protocols at the remaining basketball games. The question is, are they still going to allow students/fans at the next home games. It looked to be more than the allowable percentage but, even at that, they could've social distanced properly and it would've been no harm, no foul. So, the administration has some decisions to make...

At the end of January and the beginning of February, I (along with several other people) critiqued and thoroughly reviewed the pod seating scheme for the NBA All-Star Weekend. It ain't that difficult, even on short notice. Dozens of colleges and professional sports organizations have already done this.
I don't know if the athletic administration set one up or not. But all it takes is enforcement.
