It's still too early to conclude that. We'll see what April brings. I was at two of the games here and it's just a matter of getting timely hits and better pitching. The overall defense was good.
I still like our chances to win the title. So what you're saying is we need better hitting and pitching? That sounds like this isn't going to be our year in baseball. Oh well, we got track, volleyball and bowling...3 out of 4 ain't bad. Just hate to get spanked by them snakes. Let's table this until the tournament.

What do we have 30 more games?

So is this officially a bad season? Because it seems like we are losing almost every game now. Why would we want to pass judgment on a squad that fast? A lot of games left to play.

If the team was undefeated at this point would it be fair to say this was a good season?

If the team was undefeated at this point would it be fair to say this was a good season? 1. Expectation of a 24-0 record would be unrealistic given how we typically schedule up. 2. Even if we came close to that... it would be a good START. But as we saw with the good start WBB had in 2019-20... injuries & bad luck can derail a good start. Likewise getting healthy midseason and in-rhythm can offset a bad start. So let's keep playing & see what we look like come tournament time.

I appreciate optimism, but I hate the "wait until the tournament" talk. We do that in almost every sport. As fans, it's time to change our mental approach to our sports seasons across the board. I know the conference tournament is currently the only way we get to the NCAAs but ultimately the tournament should be the icing on the cake not the cake itself. We're not there yet, hopefully soon. For example, our bowling team doesn't "wait until the tournament". How's that working out for them?

For example, our bowling team doesn't "wait until the tournament". How's that working out for them? I feel you. But bowling's facility access to alleys/technology isn't drastically different from the rest of the NCAA. And our Bowling coach is a freakin' Hall of Famer. Baseball is probably the sport where we ask our kids to make bricks without straw the most. And because we did it when everything went perfect in 2018, we've been spoiled. Everything clearly hasn't gone perfect. Our left-handed mid-week specialist Ethan Chavis hasn't pitched at all yet this season. Zach McLean (hero from 2018) is barely playing coming off a past labrum surgery. Cam Williamson started the season slow coming off injury. And I don't think the team has the benefit of the Aggie Dome yet for use as a hitting facility/pitching lab. There's a bunch of younger guys playing big roles. That will create a roller-coaster effect until (probably) the end of this season. We asked Gates to save a game one day AND win a start the next day against NCCU. And he did. But he finally blew a save in Tallahassee this weekend. I have to believe that's a compound effect from the previous weekend. So this season definitely needs some patience, IMO.

I said that I'm solely speaking about the two games that I attended this past weekend.

...and can we at least wait and see what the first 10-14 days of April look like before throwing this team under the rug for the 2021 season??

If the team was undefeated at this point would it be fair to say this was a good season? I spoke with Coach Serber before the Central game, The team has a lot of nagging injuries, I equate to preparation or lack of proper training however he remains confident they will finish strong.

I guess all us impatient Aggie alums need to adopt Coach Washington's attitude. .."Something good happens, keep going. ..something bad happens, keep going!" I'll just keep watching until something good happens!

I'll just keep watching until something good happens! actually i believe that saying was originally adopted from coach broadway. but what i really like about coach washington is that he's smart enough to recognize that when something works, then stick with it. and that's exactly what he's done during his era and that's exactly why our program hasn't missed a beat since coach broadway retired. hey, if it ain't broke, then don't fix it...
