Something is indeed going on. Fact: SC State has removed both the home & away football games against Howard this spring from their schedule on their athletics website. It now only lists the home-and-home vs. Del. State on their website right now. Rumor ( unconfirmed): SC State and Alabama A&M are to sign a home-and-home agreement with SC State hosting Alabama A&M this upcoming Saturday, March 6 in Orangeburg and Alabama A&M hosting SC State in Huntsville, AL during the fall of 2021. Hearsay ( definitely unconfirmed): The reasoning for Howard & SC State not playing each other is because of each jurisdiction's stance on pandemic numbers (DC & the state of SC). I am emphasizing that this is hearsay and not confirmed. I have confirmation on the game. It will be in Orangeburg on Sat. I'm not going to lie. Despite both SC State & AAMU not playing a game since November 2019, I am very intrigued by this match-up. If it is not streamed live, I may strongly consider making the trip to see this game in person.

In all fairness to Howard, it wasn't exactly their decision alone to cancel out on playing Saturday.

On to spring camp, spring game, fall camp and (hopefully) Sept. 4 in Greenville, SC vs. Furman.

This just tells me that Hilton could have found other games for us to play this spring if he really wanted to.
AAMU and SC State worked out a deal in less than a week.

You know I’m the biggest proponent of Spring Ball. But the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze. It only worked for SCSU because A&M had an opening and Maynor is about that life. It’s hard to have the kids just practicing and hoping that somebody has a bye and you can squeeze something in.

Well they worked it out with Alabama State as well. Looking more and more like a future SWAC East member.

It can not be understated just how poorly our school leaders handled our football schedule during this pandemic.
We wasted a ton of opportunities.

Well they worked it out with Alabama State as well. Looking more and more like a future SWAC East member. This is a win-win for both schools, with both getting upcoming Fall games.
I'm glad that they worked this out.

Time will tell if you're right or wrong with this strong stance. If anything, our university as a whole is in a better place and Football will likely be better off because of it.

It's smart for them to play regional games. And they are playing traditional rivals. FAMU,BCU and AAMU They gonna have Clemson and then 2 in state FCS PWIs and it's a perfect schedule for them. Can diminish the Celebration Bowl matchup because the teams might have already played but still decent schedule. Now they not getting an at-large birth if they don't win MEAC however

scsu is in "prime position" to go to the celebration bowl, they will be the "heavy favorites" to win the meac title this fall. it would be "stupid" on their part to sacrifice a golden opportunity to collect a large celebration bowl check just to join the swac which will introduce far more traveling for scsu than in the fall 2021 makeup of the meac.
scsu also would have a more difficult time making it to the celebration bowl (to collect a check) as a member of the swac now that famu/bcu has joined and primetime is at jsu. scsu certainly needs the "money", they'd be far better off remaining in the meac for as long as it lasts. the swac will always be there if for some reason the meac folds and scsu decides to join the swac...
