www.ustfccca.org/2021/01/featured/2021-ncaa-di-mens-indoor-track-field-rating-index-week-1The Razorbacks sit No. 1 in the first installment of the NCAA Division I Men’s Indoor Track & Field National TFRI, which was released on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This marks the first time since Week 6 of the 2016 season that Arkansas has been ranked No. 1 indoors by the USTFCCCA Computers. North Carolina A&T sits a close No. 2 after a strong start to the new season and is followed in order by No. 3 LSU, No. 4 BYU and No. 5 Tennessee. Like the Razorbacks, the North Carolina-based Aggies hit the ground running. N.C. A&T owns seven top-10 marks nationally, including the top-ranked 4×400 relay team at 3:04.62. Randolph Ross, the second leg of that aforementioned relay team, also turned in two solo top-3 marks in the 200 (t-No. 3, 20.69) and 400 (No. 3, 46.20). Ross isn’t alone on the one-lap chart, as he’s actually tied with freshman teammate Javonte Harding at 20.69.

I look at all the teams in the SEC that are good in track and we are ranked ahead of them except 1. How long can we keep Coach Ross at A&T and maybe he will get some consideration to be one of the coaches for the Olympics or Pan-Am Games if they still have them? I also give a lot of credit to the runners who have to endure the pandemic and the hard practices.

i’m “hoping” that since #1 - coach ross’s son (sophomore) and daughter (freshman) are now on the track team at a&t, #2 - we recently gave him a “pay raise/extension”, #3 - the track facility finally got renovated, and last but not least #4 – a&t can offer coach ross something that none of the bcs schools can offer him which is an opportunity to become the first college track coach “in history” to lead an hbcu to a “division 1” national championship, that coach ross will stick around for many more years to come...

I damn sure hope you're right! I'm so proud of the coach and every member of the track program. I love seeing my beloved University successfully competing with PWIs nationally. Aggie Pride!
