Report: Lions will hire Brad Holmes as the team's new GM Jeff Risdon January 14, 2021 11:34 am
Numerous reports, including one from ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicates that the Detroit Lions are hiring Brad Holmes as the team’s new general manager. Holmes has been one of the primary candidates and completed his second interview with the team on Wednesday. He has been the director of collegiate scouting for the Los Angeles Rams since 2012 and has spent his entire NFL front office tenure with the Rams organization. Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Holmes and the Lions agreed to a five-year contract. There is no immediate indication on who Holmes is seeking to be the team’s new head coach. Holmes replaces Bob Quinn, who was fired midway through the 2020 season. For the rest of the story:lionswire.usatoday.com/2021/01/14/report-lions-hire-brad-holmes-as-the-teams-new-gm/

Holmes, 41, has never run a building before, but Bill Hayes, Holmes' former college coach at North Carolina A&T, said that should not be a problem for a former team captain who has natural leadership ability. “I think he would do an excellent job (as GM)," Hayes said. "I know he’s going to put in the work. That’s the first thing about it, he’s going to put in the work, he’s going to make the effort and he’s a team guy all the way. He’s not one of those egotistical maniacs. He’s going to be a team guy. He can be trusted. He’s extremely trustworthy, so I feel strongly that he would do a super job." link
