Commercial Break: "I am so ready for some football!"
I don't even need a game, just news, player profiles, features, anything. This basketball season is depressing so far.

They're not on our level in any way shape or form. I don't mean that to be derogatory but what do we have in common? We're both hbcus with good football programs. That's about it. We're located nowhere near each other. Culturally almost completely different. Their football history outshines ours by a great deal. We recently have gotten the upper hand. I'd say we have no "rivals" per se in the swac. Different region, different standards. I don't know who should be more insulted by the insinuation we could be rivals, them or us lol. The only school that is sorta kinda a Rivalry in the SWAC in Grambling even though Broadway has retired just due to the history. In addition with us being tagged the top HBCU football program in the land a and Nationally ranked FCS program upsets the Grambling folks. I see them all the time here in Dallas area they sort kinda like FAMU and feel any top titles belong to them Well they can catch a few more whoopings too.

I don't even want them to return the game at this point. We have beat them 3 straight now.

I'll give Alcorn fans one thing - they know how to exit GA stadiums really fast!

No rivalry with Alcorn State, IMHO.
As far as SWAC schools are concerned, the only legitimate possibilities for me are Alabama State, Grambling State and FAMU.
The Hornets because of distance. The Tigers because of national recognition. The Rattlers because of familiarity.
A lot of people don’t realize this, but A&T vs. FAMU has happened more times in football than A&T vs. SCSU and FAMU vs. SCSU...and the Bulldogs and Rattlers were in the SIAC together for over 50 years and in the MEAC together for 40 years.
ONE LAST THOUGHT: The non-SWAC program that could make a great Notre Dame/Southern Cal-type rivalry for us would be with Tennessee State.
When I was at ‘Tee, we had a fantastic rivalry with them in both football (keyed by Jim McKinley) and in basketball (fueled by Don Corbett and TSU’s Aggie grad coach Ed Martin, who were great friends).
I’d love to see both of us get back to being rivals.

At this point Alcorn is not one of our rivalries, their just the unfortunate team that had to face us 3 times in the bowl game. I think that they considered themselves superior like most SWAC teams do to us and the whole MEAC, but in return we have become both a wake up call and learning experience. They found it very easy to snub us and move to a pay game, with no plans of returning the home in home or even care how we felt about it.
I’ve seen so much SWAC this or that and self claims of being everything in all sports, and the band... FAMU, and Primetime fit right in, with their we are it personalities. I hope that we can continue to kick ASUs a** and the SWAC every time we face them.
