If I am not mistaken this is A&T's first game and UNCG's 6 or 7 game correct me if I'm wrong. Yes a win would have been nice but a 1 point loss to a team with 6 games under there belt at this level is not a bad outing. Now they just have to learn how to close out games and protect ball and extend their leads . Learn from this and move on to the next game .

Man this board was funny with People saying this one of the greatest team in year to this loss. I agree with saabman that this is there first game and conditioning might be a factor. Props for the effort and we will learn from it

14 pts in the second half, gave up 31. IDK about rookie mistakes, 1-19 (5%) from 3. And the majority of those threes were uncontested looks. Bottom line you have to knock them down against a zone. The ball movement was there and the zone kept moving. Bigs just have to be stronger at finishing. Not enough dribble drive challenges though.

Tyball
All the above is true but if we continued to trap like in the first half G would never been able to set up that zone

Yeah, I'd agree with the dribble drive, but what's the first thing you do when find yourself in a hole? Stop digging. 1-19 is a big damn hole, like a chasm. If you can't make em, don't take em; find another way to score, cuz this aint the only game the women will see a zone defense; that was their "kryptonite" last season.

Freshmen mistakes. Should have won anyway, UNCG WAS 0-5. Jones-Pack was special though.

As stated “This was their first game” I think they played extremely well. What I saw from the lady Aggies looked more than what the fellas have been doing in the 6 or 7 games they’ve played. Now I did notice that whoever #1 is she’s not comfortable having the ball and or taking a shot. There were multiple unguarded 3pt shots she took (I can’t hit one either) that she really shouldn’t have taken and it left the door wide open for Uncg is those final minutes. They will be fine if they can gather those mental mistakes and fix them .

Considering that the actual baskets in the fourth quarter came from baseline drives or solid baseline passing from the bigs, you're right. Tarrell has to focus on that. The bigs made difficult catches and can finish layups, so we have the size to look and pass over smaller teams and get the shots we want. You can tell that he has a plan. It really wasn't terrible defense on the other end, but Cece Crudup and Tori Powell (seniors) seemed to want it more that that the rest. They made the two biggest plays when it counted.

Considering who they played, that 0-5 record with a loss to North Carolina is nothing to sneeze at. and three of the five losses were actual close games in which they led going into the fourth quarter. UNCG finally learned how to finish a game, while we're just getting started. That makes a ton of difference.

They'll be fine if they coral the 3-pointers. The exact same thing happened last year in the first few games shooting 10% from 3-point land and taking 15-20 of them. Once they settled down and took 10-12 shots from the arc, they got measurably better. The best and most consistent thing was very good defense from the young team.
