HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne announced the addition of three future non-conference home games for the football program in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. The first of JMU's three new non-conference games takes place on Sept. 7, 2024, when JMU hosts Presbyterian. JMU also confirmed its first two matchups for 2025, adding games at Bridgeforth Stadium against Norfolk State on Aug. 30 and North Carolina A&T on Sept. 6. jmusports.com/news/2020/12/8/football-jmu-announces-three-additions-to-future-non-conference-slate.aspx

We're not shying away from playing the very top of the FCS food chain. A&T is now also taking in a lot more FBS transfers than they have in the past much like JMU and NDSU have done over the last decade to become so dominate in the FCS.
It's going to be real interesting over the next 3-4 years to see what damage we can do playing week after week on a bigger stage.

I believe the next 7 years will determine if we cane make the FBS move.
If we are successful playing the best in FCS football I believe we will make the move.

You must be thinking of Sam Houston State .

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe we can play 12 games in 2025. Hopefully we don't schedule a FBS Squad too. Playing Central, Hampton and HBCU (Insert the name). Additionally, who knows what the BSC will look like in 2025.

Although it is a ways off, this matchup is more appealing to me than NDSU. Maybe it is because i know a few JMU grads.

The advent of the transfer portal has drastically changed everyone's recruiting habits and assumptions.
If the NCAA decides this winter to approve the proposed one time free transfer rule where a player is allowed a one time to transfer to any school in any conference and become immediately eligible, it'll change the dynamic once again but this time three fold.
But I'm getting off topic. Sorry.
Our future nonconference scheduling is going to be dictated pretty much by guarantees from here on out so matchups with HBCUs (outside of Hampton, NCCU and the occasional WSSU) will mostly be all classics or big market promotional games.

Agree 100% We just need this clearly communicated to Aggie boosters and alumni on a regular basis because I guarantee they will begin to whine once we have only Hampton and NCCU scheduled. Perhaps we need to announce that NCCU contract and these other gems around Signing Day in Feb?

For what it is worth we should play Jackson State at some point.

There should be a quarterly update
