We really need to put a whole game together today and win going away.

....for what it's worth, betting lines have us as a 12-point favorite vs Chicago State today.

These early games remind me of our game last year against UNC-G. We start from scratch and get better. Money games are money games for a reason. I get that but at some point we have to play EVERY game to win. If you need to slow down, slow down. If you need go inside, go inside. If you need to press, press. Play to win, not to experiment. Bad teams do that. Good teams come into the season knowing most of what their rotation will be. I'm tired of Nov/Dec not counting. We have to expect to have a winning record in non-conference play. BTW, 10 minutes into the game Ohio is leading Illinois by 2.

Saying Nov and Dec don’t count is another way of saying we ok with just winning the MEAC and we acknowledge that our team is just meac good. It’s a coping mechanism it seems. A defeatist mentality

It also shows how good we can be if we hung with a team that’s testing a final four favorite.

A&T Men's Basketball starts off every season the same way: 1. Blind Enthusiasm... Reviewing the player's stats in the offseason before the first game is played 2. Cautious Optimism... The nervous feeling minutes before our first tipoff 3. Horror and dismay... Watching the first two or three non-conference games 4. Clinical Depression... The weeks before the Conference Season starts 5. Acceptance of Status Quo... Tipoff time in Corbett Gym
A lot of us are waiting for today's final game in Illinois before slipping into Clinical Depression.

Ohio is now ahead by 49-41 with 13 minutes to go. They slowed the game down and is trying to win.

They may have looked better in spots but to me the chemistry was off and the efforts for rebounds were lackadaisical and the hustle for loose balls could have been better.
We will get better.

Man we just barely beat these guys. What happened? Two things: Illinois missed a lot of threes; Ohio played to win.

They were not mentally ready to play, hype is like sugar(it burns off quickly) HBCU basketball mentality if you can’t strategically play with a team outrun them😏
