Georgia State Adds North Carolina A&T to 2026 ScheduleATLANTA – Georgia State has finalized a contract to host North Carolina A&T for a football game at Center Parc Stadium in 2026. The Panthers will host the Aggies on Sept. 5, 2026. It will mark the first time the two schools have met on the gridiron. Georgia State has already set its non-conference schedules through the 2024 season, with two games scheduled 2025 and 2027, along with three games in 2026. That season along with hosting the Aggies, the Panthers will host Georgia Tech and travel to Oxford, Miss., to face Ole Miss. Under fourth-year head coach Shawn Elliott, Georgia State is currently 3-3 coming off a 52-34 win over ULM last Saturday. The Panthers will travel to Boone, N.C., this weekend to face Appalachian State. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m., and can be seen live on ESPN+. link

Reasonable matchup. But so much for non conference games with HBCUs.

And get out of that Hbcu this Hbcu that mess. A&T is still an Hbcu and the atmosphere will not change regardless. Visiting schools didn’t even bring their bands . Can we please retire the whole black & white thing for Christ sake

Can we please retire the whole black & white thing for Christ sake Sorry 919, but I got to throw a flag on the play. I hope I’m wrong, but we could see an atmosphere change. Hampton fans confirmed as much, now how much of a change we will have to see...but the idea that we can just switch out HBCUs with PWC and think there will be no changes is a bit of a stretch. Black & white...culture, or whatever you want to call it...it’s real...and has to be address...not ignored. If you think for one second that fans don’t care about having HBCUS on our schedule then you are fooling yourself. That’s the main reason our admin address this as the second most important item after budget savings after the announcement. Fans want to play NCCU, SCSU, Howard, NSU, etc...that’s just facts. All that said I like this game. Lower level FBS schools should be on our radar.

But so much for non conference games with HBCUs. Not applicable. Remember Georgia State is an FBS school. We will get a payout. Hell, by 2026 we may be FBS. LOL

The fact is this announcement was made before we have signed an agreement to play a game with our number one rival and largest gate other than GHOE that happens to be an HBCU. Also let me clarify my statement, whether folks want to admit it the move to the BS is polarizing for some (i have not made up mind either way, i just want us to win) but I would work to appease some of our more traditional fanbase who will miss playing HBCUs and securing a deal with Central would settle that chatter down. I also note that it takes two to reach an agreement.

We'll play 8 conference games --- one against Hampton. That leaves 3 slots in an 11-game schedule. Two additional HBCU's + a money game is doable.
Getting back to the 2026 Georgia State road game, we already have a pipeline of recruits from the area and our recent history playing there is well-documented. It's a good game to schedule in my opinion.

We are going to need money so maybe expect a lot more of these games. I can see it in basketball in a couple of years

This should be a winnable game for us if our recruiting continues to improve! Five years from now who knows where we’ll be as a program. One thing is certain though...there’s gonna be an Aggie takeover in the ATL that weekend!
