4-Game Minimum Requirement Approved For The Spring PlayoffsAn FCS team must play at least four games to be considered for an at-large berth into the 2021 spring playoffs. This does not apply to a conference’s auto-bid. A conference remains eligible for automatic qualification in 2020-21 if it has at least three teams playing against one another during the regular season. The 4-game minimum was moved by the Division I Football Championship Committee and approved by the Division I Football Oversight Committee. “With the potential for canceled games this fall and spring because of the pandemic, the Division I Football Championship Committee thought it was important to set the minimum number of games required for at-large consideration,” an NCAA press release stated. “Committee members believe that a minimum of four games should provide both maximum flexibility for teams while also producing adequate win-loss results for the committee to compare them against other deserving teams that played more games. The committee felt that evaluations will be difficult enough with only four games played. Three or fewer games played would make those evaluations exponentially more problematic.” For the rest of the story: herosports.com/fcs-football-4-game-minimum-requirement-playoffs-bzbz/

I am worried that we will not be able to piece together an independent football schedule this spring.
The MEAC will probably officially collapse by next Monday's opt-out deadline and all the other FCS teams will probably just want to play a truncated conference schedule.
This is gonna be like a game of musical chairs, and unfortunately we'll be the one's left out.

Don't you think we would be able to find games between the CAA, Southern and Big South schools with very little travel?

Most of the FCS teams are gonna follow the FBS model and stick with a conference-only spring schedule. That is what we were gonna try to do initially ... but now we won't have a conference schedule to play when the MEAC falls apart.
Likewise, I doubt most FCS schools will want to play more than 6 games this spring, since they have to turn around and play another full schedule in September - not to mention the possibly of a spring postseason schedule.
I dont see a lot of non-conference opportunities being available at this point. For most schools it will be just play your conference schedule or just wait until the fall.

Given the reality of the sh**tuation it is best that we plan for Fall 2021 football. The spike of Rona along with the impending constitutional crisis should make us reflect on matters of importance rather than the health risks concerns. Then too the weather pattern has to factor in as well as the economic costs. Just my opinion.

I think the plan has always been making people think we were playing Spring "21" but to keep everything in place for Fall Football season "21"

That should be the theme of Spring 21. The last dance If that's the case, let's just win everything at the same time. Football, basketball, baseball, track, all of it!
