Rod Broadway went out on top as a college football coach. He led North Carolina A&T to the Black college national championship and a perfect 12-0 season in 2017. He is now retired and living at the beach. He may be retired as a football coach, but not as an advocate for student-athletes. Donal Ware sat down for a candid three-part conversation with the only coach to lead three different schools to a Black college national championship (A&T, Grambling, North Carolina Central) and talked about the killing of unarmed Black men, his time at NCCU, GSU, and A&T, how he almost accepted the head coach job at Old Dominion, about whether he felt slighted by not being a head coach at and FBS program, and about his days coaching with Steve Spurrier, including at Florida where they won the national championship in 1996. If I'm correct, thrilla is still awaiting the unveiling of his statue in front of "Aggie" Stadium.
Wonder where we are on that initiative, the slide must've been mistakenly omitted from the preeminence 2020 presentation. Such a a glaring oversight by someone, that might be a fireable offense.

That's a hell of an interview! I've never heard someone with as much coaching experience at PWIs and HBCUs speak so candidly. Earl needs to video tape a similar interview with Coach and share it with all Alumni Chapters and grads!

Earl needs to video tape a similar interview with Coach and share it with all Alumni Chapters and grads! He hit the nail on the head. He is the type of role models that we need in the lives of too many young African American young men lives primarily as well as others who need guidance in their walk to manhood. But he is so real that he would not be acceptable because his heart is pure.
