I wonder if the Meac would allow 2 OOC games in the spring . Maybe Shaw could get the game they wanted after all.

If we have to play 6 MEAC games in the spring... I would play only that knowing I'm going to likely have to play a full schedule in the fall.
I would do my best to keep the number of full games in calendar year 2021 to a mininum for the sake of our kids. I honestly hate that we're going to have to play in the spring. Spring ball vs. live ball is a completely different level of intensity.

Remember it's 6 + 1 (potential MEAC championship game appearance) + 4 (potential FCS spring playoff run) ... and then 11 + 4 (potential FCS fall playoff run).
There is chance we could be asking our kids to play 26 college football games in the year 2021.

From Saturday's Zoom call and based on the MEAC's press release this past Friday, our season will start on Feb. 20 with 6 conference games and two OOC/open dates which would put our last regular season game on Apr. 10 since the MEAC championship game is the weekend of Apr. 17. Not sure what direction Hilton will take regarding the # of games - if we participate at all. NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 25, 2020 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has been granted an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs this spring. “I would like to thank the FCS Commissioners, Football Championship Committee and the Football Oversight Committee for supporting the MEAC’s automatic qualifier (AQ) status and I am excited for our student-athletes and coaches to participate in the FCS playoffs,” MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas said. “Furthermore, the MEAC is primed to make history this spring with its first-ever championship game and it is exciting to make that sort of history in our 50th Anniversary.” The first-ever MEAC championship game will be held the weekend of April 16-18. The FCS playoff field will be reduced from 24 teams to 16, with selection happening Sunday, April 18. The first round would take place the weekend of April 24, followed by quarterfinals the weekend of May 1 and semifinals the weekend of May 8. The FCS Championship game will be held May 14, 15 or 16. With the MEAC’s automatic bid, the number of automatic bids increases from 10 to 11, with the five other playoff slots going to at-large teams. Teams can play up to eight regular-season games across a 13-week period in the spring, ending with the weekend of April 16-18. meacsports.com/news/2020/9/25/football-meac-granted-automatic-berth-to-the-ncaa-fcs-playoffs.aspx

Also, I believe your possible 26 games in 2021 is right. Good thing is they'll have a bit of a break between spring and fall and I would hope/expect they would have to play an 11 game schedule in the fall so that number could be cut down.

Yeah, I better not hear anybody from the Legion of Gloom say another word about safety or COVID or heart issues this fall if yall are cool with us playing next spring.

To be candid I do not believe that we should be playing football in the spring. This Plandamit trajectory is such that there need be no rush to compete. In fact we do well to heed the African Proverb; when everybody is running; it is a good time to be walking. Let us govern ourselves accordingly.

Yeah, I better not hear anybody from the Legion of Gloom say another word about safety or COVID or heart issues this fall if yall are cool with us playing next spring. To your point, if Mike Minter, who played college football at Nebraska followed by 10 years in the NFL, says that it is not wise (healthy) to play in the spring, perhaps it isn't. My opinion is starting to change on this spring 2021 football thing...unless we play a shortened and delayed-start fall 2021 season. Minter allowed his players to process the news that their season would be far different than one they’d expected. That instead of playing a full season, they could either play four games or none at all. Though the Big South expressed hope about a spring season, Minter, who played in college on Nebraska’s nationally dominant teams of the mid-1990s, did not think that was a good idea.
“I know how long it takes to heal up,” he said. “I’m not guessing. The time that we have off (in the winter and spring) is the time that we need off.”For the rest of the story: www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/article246114985.html

People on this message board always say "listen to the experts" ... until those experts tell them something they dont want to hear.
There is no way any rational person can think playing a possible 26 football games in one calendar year (during a global pandemic) is a good idea.
However, there are folks in the L.O.G who secretly regret us not playing in the fall (like I said we should) and now are just hoping to save face by promoting something silly 4 months from now.

I believe in listening to the experts as well but, when experts become contaminated by the use bribes and money, they become hard to trust. So, from my perspective, the expert that I trust is the one who has maintain his stance from day 1. Then when "45" realized what Fauci's opinion was gonna do to his economy, he tried to discredit him by bringing in other "Experts" to refute him. You don't know the motive of these other "Experts" could be money, could be anything.
Now, I do agree with you, Thrilla...we do have to live and survive in these unchartered waters but, I wouldn't suggest putting one's self in harms way. Now, we wear mask from protection from coughing, sneezing and mere conversation. You would send your child on the football field where players literally knock the snot out of each other while playing. The unknown is just to great especially if they are saying the virus can be airborne.
