I want to give props to the coaches and players with what they had to go through. I wish we could have played 2 games in the fall

We could have, but Chancellor Martin got cold feet at the last second.
Now he obviously regrets that decision and is willing to have us play a potential 26 football games in 2021.

Yea but the MEAC has stated there was going to be a spring season therefore no schools in the meac scheduled any games in the fall. Why would you want to add more game to the players plate not knowing how the spring season was going to look like. If you remember early Thomas was vague on the spring season outlook. In June/July How in god name would you expect Chancellor Martin and the AD to make any type of intelligent decision base on the little facts that they had.

1) Who cares what the MEAC stated? I would have ignored them like if they were a bill collector. They surrendered all authority when they unilaterally decided to cancel the fall 2020 conference season. At that point, we had no legal obligation to try and play a potential spring MEAC football season if we didn't want to. We could (and should) have opted to go the independent route like Campbell and filled a 6 game schedule with FBS money games and local FCS schools.
2) In June/July Martin could have listened to me and others. We told him to refrain from making a hasty decision because the concept of playing sports in a pandemic might change. And it surely did. Ed Hardin wrote a bunch of hit pieces in the local paper back then about how playing anything right now was too dangerous and Martin was afraid of the bad press. All of you guys said fall sports were impossible and everybody who tested positive would develop heart issues. You were wrong.

Probably due to a lack of foresight and bold leadership.
Unfortunately, I am not the commissioner of the MEAC or SWAC. My job description says that I am only have limited authority over the misfits of this message board.
The SWAC and MEAC should have consulted with me but they didn't. Now they find themselves in an untenable position.
If it's not safe for A&T to play 6 games now, how in the world will it be safe for us to play a possible 26 games, starting in February?

Because SWAC and MEAC schools were swayed by the naysayers and closet racist in our community that look for any emotional reason to say white schools don't care about black athletes. Presidents of institutions with resources to play football now worried more about the backlash than from black closet racist than what is actually feasible. If A&T had played football you have heard "A&Ts white AD doesnt care about black players"...nothing but ignorant comments as usual. or you would have had people talking crap about A&T saying its not a real HBCU because we are risking our black players lives playing football. Normal ill informed and ignorant from our community when you dont go along with the status quo.

Not sure I agree with that because Chancellor Martin is still the face of our university. He is the one that would have been blamed if something went wrong and he is the one who got cold feet. Earl has always played the background and he wanted us to play this fall. From my understanding he still doesn't want us to play in the spring.
Earl is a pragmatist like me. He can scan the terrain, put his emotions aside and make the most out of a bad situation. Martin is an engineer by trade but has become more of a politician over time.
The fear of bad press is what caused Martin to blink. Didn't really have much to do with internal racism.
I think you may be projecting some of your own sentiments here.

Not internal racism...external! When the move to BS was announced many people on Onnidan, Meacfans, MEAC and SWAC facebook groups blamed Earl and comments were made about his skin color. Saying Earl pushed the BS agenda and it was due to his skin color. If A&T had have played football he would have shouldered the blame for that too. I can pull up the old post from those sites if you need proof.

given that most fcs conferences are playing a spring 2021 football season, it might be a good idea for the fcs to start the fall 2021 season at least a month later than usual to give guys time to physically recover from a spring football season. and even that might not be enough time for most "serious" injuries to heal...
