The Miami Heat's Bam Adebayo was just interviewed on ESPN's "NBA Countdown" tonight and he was asked why he chose Black Lives Matter for the back of his jersey.
He said that, being from North Carolina and the Greensboro area growing up, he was inspired to get involved by The A&T Four (which he mistakenly called The Greensboro Four...and I am aware of the fight over that moniker).
They showed a picture of The A&T Four at the lunch counter during the sit-in, as well as a picture of A&T students in 1960 taking up seats at the lunch counter.

There is no fight over the "so-called moniker" given to A&T by whites in the community and state many years after the Sit-In. We have always been the "A&T Four". The police, newspapers and whites from within the community and state referred to the students as @#%* A&T College students. They insisted that the college is a sewer and needs to be closed. The problem is whatever label they used to describe us then and now, Blacks were/are some of the first people to accept it. History tends to be something that we reject many times. We are now beginning to write our own history. Whites and other cultures never reject their history, it's in your face everyday. It is used as the foundation of order in their social framework of governance. So, respect your university's history and reject any effort to rewrite it.
