Just saw on Twitter that thereβs a meeting coming up later today on the decision to possibly have a FCS 16 Team Playoff In The Spring. If this were to happen and we play in the spring and dominate as we should , and if thereβs no Celebration Bowl, Should we hope for a bid ??

What would that mean for the fall 2021 season? There is no way you could start on time in September if you are just wrapping up the spring season in mid May.

Not playing in the Spring would only put us behind every other school in the FCS. If we don't play, we won't be able to practice in the Spring either. That May, 15th date only affects 2 teams in the Championship. This just gives the timeframe of April, 17th for the season to be complete for the other 110 schools.

So a three month offseason before you turn around and start again in the fall?

The season would span from February 27 through April 24, with a championship game set for May 1.

So a three month offseason before you turn around and start again in the fall? bsc is playing in the spring too. so we shouldn't be at a disadvantage relative to the bsc...

We are obligated to play this spring according to the by laws of the MEAC. Why we talking playoff just like the past five years the MEAC champs will not be eligible for the playoff because of the celebration bowl obligation unless we are not the champs and the NCAA nominate us to play. But I am assuming we will be the MEAC champs!!!!!

Unless there is a spring Celebration Bowl to go to (which I seriously doubt would occur), there is no logical reason in my mind for the MEAC to divide into divisional play and then a championship game.
The original idea of championship game may have sounded good at the time but I doubt a championship game would draw flies in the midst of a pandemic.
If you're going to play in the spring at all, simply let everyone play a full seven game conference schedule with the winner going to the playoffs and everyone else attempting to finish impressively enough for an at large birth and call it a day.
Just my opinion.

based on local and state COVID-19 conditionsIt's going to be hard to justify that if every other school in NC is playing and our campus is open to students.

Earl will not be making the final decision just from the economics stand point I am sure Martin is going to weigh in the decision. But to Oldschoolaggie point he was correct universities in the MEAC can opt out. To AggieOne point: This was the AD response weather the Celebration bowl will happen in the spring. "Still being determined β not sure what ABC/ESPN want to do about that bowl game β" This got to happen so I can tell Va Finest I told you. LOLOL
