some people rather not be "fearful" alone, so they impose their fears on others. just trust the science!

It's usually the same folks who view installing field turf at a college football stadium as an impossible task.
Some people have the ability to look for solutions and some people can only focus on the obstacles.

OK, I SURRENDER!! I was 100% wrong. 'Thriller and OSA are 100% correct..there are absolutely no reasons NOT to play football.
LET 'EM PLAY in a pandemic. No football player has ever died from COVID-19 or Myocarditis. The president says that is just like the flu.
LET 'EM PLAY in hurricanes. No football player has ever died from wind, nor have any players ever drown during a game.
LET 'EM PLAY in thunderstorms. No football player has ever died from being hit by lightning during a game.
LET 'EM PLAY in tornado conditions. No football player has ever died from wind during a game.
I get it!! As your president says, there are absolutely no reasons NOT to play football.

All we ask is that you make decisions based on the available science and sound logic; not just fear and worse-case scenarios.
There is definitely a risk of LIVING in the midst of a pandemic. However the risk of playing college football is no greater than the risk of shopping for food at your local grocery store.

I get it!! As your president says, there are absolutely no reasons NOT to play football. a/r, the question ain't whether there are no reasons not to play football. the question is whether college football can be played relatively safe from covid-19 and so far it has been proven that it can. i have yet to see any college or pro sports covid-19 positivity rate that exceeds that of the general public. clearly it is unreasonable to expect there to be "zero" covid-19 cases amongst college or pro sports, but the nba and wnba still have not encountered any covid-19 positive tests. trust me, i do believe in the "science". i do support wearing masks, washing hands, and social distancing. but i do not believe that it is "impossible" to relatively safely play college football free from widespread covid-19 infections. to me, as long as the positivity rate is "lower" than that of the general public, then there's no reason not to play college football. i also believe "fans" should be allowed to attend "outdoor" football games as long as they're wearing masks, washing hands, and social distancing...

See the Science gets contradictory and forgive me for getting a little puzzled. But, they had to send the student body home at UNC for a spike in the Covid-19 but, they turn around and say it's cool to play football safely. Then to ask athletes to NOT mingle among its peers is a bit much. Michigan State (Big 10) had to ask a fraternity and sorority to quarantine for 14 days just yesterday but, Big 10 wanna play football. Common sense has to come into play as well. A scientist can prove an elephant can swing from a skinny branch on a tree but, what does your common sense tell you. I'll say this and leave it alone...I was born at night but, NOT LAST NIGHT!!!

What did common sense tell you this past weekend ... and twice last night?
It is not some crazy hypothetical theory that football can be played during a pandemic. We saw proof of it right before our very eyes.
You watched it yourself and you probably enjoyed every minute of it.
What I dont understand if why are you trying so hard now to convince yourself that reality doesn't exist? Football can be played during a pandemic.

I swore I was going to stay out of this and "let you cook" but bruh...you can't be this shortsighted and ridiculous. Who said football CAN'T be played? Who made that argument? My dude...you can do ANYTHING you want to do during a pandemic. That's not up for debate. You can also go hiking in the Oregon and North California mountains right now if you want...but I wouldn't suggest it. What IS debatable is what are the risk assumed to the health of our athletes (both longterm and short term) as they engage in athletics. And I know, I know....you are willing to take "ugly risks" in order to see football played, but the truth is the answer is inconclusive and being debated within medical circles and sadly within political circles too. I get it homie....you wanna see football played. But you really need to check how you go about constructing your "arguments." It speaks volumes and I don't want to tell you what its actually saying about you.

But I thought you are already stated that I was being "disgusting, selfish, and reprehensible" because I advocated for football to be played this fall. You mean, I am now in danger of being considered worse than that?
Oh, heavens no. lol.
BTW: Plenty of pundits like yourself declared that football could not be played. One of those was the main sports columnists here in Greensboro:
.
So please stop being so emotional, refrain from all the nasty name calling and just look at the available science. Put your ego aside and trust the medical experts.

Agreed.
And you should promise to be the first person screaming bloody murder when they pull players off-the-field because of lightning or during a tornado warning.
Should Hurricane Sally (which I’m dealing with today) swing up your way this weekend, there should not be one single cancellation of an athletic event in DC, MD or DC that you don’t complain about.
I agree. That’s just COMMON SENSE. There are no reasons not to play football.

You act like games have not already been cancelled and postponed this fall because of COVID. The schools are taking this seriously and making adjustments.
Everyone is taking the necessary precautions ... just as if there were an approaching thunderstorm or hurricane.
Hell, the A&T/ FAMU game last year got postponed because of a Hurricane. But nobody said the game could not be played and rest of the season had to be cancelled.
I dont understand your comparison.

for me, it ain't got "nothing" to do with me personally wanting see college football. instead i'm looking at the protocols that are in place versus the covid-19 positivity rates of college football teams. all p5 players are being tested "at least" 3 to 4 times per week and at least 1 test no more than 24 hours prior to kickoff. that level of testing is relatively "fool proof", yet there are some who still say that ain't safe enough.
so far, there are no football teams that have a positivity rate that exceeds that of the "general public" from which they live. so based on the "data" alone, it is safer to play college football than it is to walk the streets in the public.
to my knowledge, i know of "zero" p5 players to be hospitalized due to covid-19 and most who contracted covid-19 recover within 10 to 14 days. now that's what the data says, but some folk still find that unacceptable.
i am not trying to trivialize covid-19 by any stretch. but i believe if the proper "precautions" are taken like thorough testing, wearing masks when possible, proper hygiene, and social distancing, then college football can be played relatively safe from covid-19.
i mean, just think about it? currently there are at least 6 professional sports leagues that are active (nfl, nba, wnba, mlb, mlh, mls) and "none" of them have a positivity test rate that exceeds that of the general public. nor does any of the college football teams. i mean, how much more "proof" do you need that sports can be played relatively safe from widespread covid-19 infections?
6 professional sports leagues plus college football have "proven" that competitive sports can be played in a "safer covid-19 environment" than me and you going to the grocery store to buy food for our families...
now, is there a risk? sure, of course there's a risk. there's a significant health and well being "risk" playing college football "with or without" covid-19. covid is not the only risk for college football players. what about suffering "severe" bodily injuries that can cause death or being paralyzed? nobody care about that? in the past, college football players have died from the flu, heat stroke, and sickle cell. nobody cares about that?
