College athletes who play fall sports, including football, will be given a free year of eligibility no matter how much they compete over the next 10 months if an NCAA recommendation is approved later this week. This makes even more sense to play in the spring. Why does it make more sense? You not worried about the players health? It makes more sense because the argument was if they played a shorter season in the spring they would lose a year of eligibility that they could've played a full season of 11 games. This eliminates that concern. The coaches can manage who plays in the spring. Fowler could play three games and Femi could play the other three just to get experience for next year. The younger players have the opportunity to get playing time as well.

Will we view it as a glorified spring practice to get the younger players experience OR will we be out to win a conference championship? I think that's about all that can be achieved, a conference championship...right?

Me personally, I want to leave the MEAC on top and I definitely don't want our last game against FAMU to be the third straight loss.

Hmmm...I wonder if there's a penalty for non-compliance with the conference?

Hmmm...I wonder if there's a penalty for non-compliance with the conference? according to the n&r article; Each individual institution can opt out of competing in the spring based on local and state COVID-19 conditions, according to the league’s news release. so that gives a&T an out if deemed necessary...

honestly, as much as i would luv to see a&t play spring 2021 football, i do have concerns regarding the "physical stress" that would be placed on the players who will also play fall 2021 football. i've said all along that i did not feel that a relatively short 2 to 3 month grace period between spring and fall seasons was enough time for the players' bodies to fully recover in time to play an 11 game fall football schedule (potentially more games if we make the playoffs)...

Trust me and believe we are not playing unless Martin over rule him. Reading that article it seem like players may be able to opt out and not play if they feel uncomfortable about the pandemic. If that is the case what is the point in playing if for example your starting QB from SC state decide to opt out. The game become more of a exhibition at that point.

Shoot, you've got three teams leaving next year. I'm betting from a strategic standpoint that the Florida teams will sit out the spring football season knowing that the SWAC is playing in the spring and they can show up with fully refreshed teams ready to run through the conference from year one.
Likewise, imo there's too much riding on next fall for us to mess around and be playing in the spring. We got our rings, we good.

FAMU needs the gate receipts. If fans are allowed in the stands, they are playing. If the MEAC didn't play in the Spring, they would play with the SWAC as an out of conference opponent.

I kinda like playing in the spring for these reasons:
1. For those that keep sighting health and safety concerns, it's a given that the conditions must be right. Hilton wants to see what happens with those teams that play in the fall and how COVID is over the next few months which is valid.
2. Everybody gets an extra year of eligibility and individual players can opt out if they want.
3. The southern division games will be epic. Every game will be must see and we will probably play Central and SCSU home and home.
4. It's only six games and our roster is deep at almost every position. It's competition spring ball.
5. Our QBs need the work and a new RB needs to emerge.
6. There will be a championship game. It's worth going out on top.
7. With roster expansion, Fall of 2021 will not over tax the players. We will have close to 100 players.
8. I'm just ready for A&T football.

I careless about what revenue receipts FAMU needs . Unless your on the inside of their administration or know someone that is I would refrain from commenting on FAMU's situation .I would feel the same way and so would you if a FAMU fan/ graduate would comment on A&T's situation . Pittsburgh what say you !!

It's public record. I don't just pull things out of the sky.
