do you think martin will "opt out" if we play in the spring? with the 2021 nfl draft coming up early in the summer of 2021, that's something that he'd really have to think long and hard about. personally, i can see both "the good and the bad" if he plays in the spring. i guess he'll have to base his decision whether to play or not on what the nfl scouts think of his prospects to be drafted. if they think he'll get drafted based only on his last 2 years (2018 & 2019) of video, then it might be a good idea to sit out the spring and not risk injury. but if they think he needs to further prove himself in order to get drafted, then it might be a good idea to play in the spring even though he'd risk injury. it'll probably be a difficult decision for martin... I wouldn't he has to much to lose and there is no reward and a lot of risk ! Martin is set what more does he have to prove ? It would be a total disservice to the young man if our coaching staff tried to entice this young man to play . All of my faith in Washington and his staff would drop from a 10 to a 5 on the trust scale in my opinion just saying. i dunno, saab. imo, i think it will all depend on what the nfl scouts think. you and i may think martin is worthy of being drafted, but what you and i think don't matter. its what the scouts think that counts. martin will have a far better chance of making a roster if he gets drafted as opposed to being an undrafted free agent. so if it was me, if the scouts told me that i'd have a better chance of getting drafted if i played spring ball, then i'd play. but if they told me i'd get drafted even if i don't play spring ball, then i'd probably be more inclined not to play. now that the big 10 and pac 12 are considering to play spring ball, then the nfl draft and tryouts may be totally different than normal. guys who play college ball in the spring probably will not have enough recovery time to turn right around 2 months later to begin an nfl training camp followed by an nfl 16 or 17 game season. i'm not sure how the nfl will handle this, they could move the draft further into the summer than normal. but for guys who play spring ball, i'm not so sure if they'd be able to resume "contact" football in july/august, especially at the nfl level. its a lot for martin and the coaches to consider. that's why i say it'll be a very difficult decision that probably can't be made as of today. they'll have to wait and see how things play out, too much we don't know right now to make an intelligent decision...

I can't think of any reason for Martin to return..... You think if the draft happened today he would be selected in the first 5 rounds?

I think you hit head these are not normal times. Martin is not the only guy in college that may get invited to the combine and may be call upon to play in the spring especially now that the big league FBS conf. are following the same protocol. It's not like NFL and NCAA folks live in a bubble they will make some type of concession for these Sr(s).

Is that the kid from New Bern ? Is Guilford College DIII or NAIA ? hutchison is from havelock hs (3a) rather than new bern hs (4a), but havelock is only 15 miles away and are new bern hs "rivals". both schools have won "multiple" state football championships over the last decade. and guildford college is "d3", but i didn't see hutchison on guildford's 2019 roster ( www.guilfordquakers.com/sports/fball/2019-20/roster)...

He’ll be there for the 2020 season, he was here in 2019 but quit early.

But I’m sure the environment better suits him

Is that the kid from New Bern ? Is Guilford College DIII or NAIA ? From Havelock HS, Guilford College is a d3 school in Greensboro about 15 mins from A&T. Technically rivals with Greensboro College (also d3)
