Steven Rhodes comes from Radford. Rhodes was the recruiting coordinator, post player position coach, handled scouting and assisted with academics. Prior to Radford he was at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C., where he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator since April 2017. He assisted in leading the team to a 40-19 record through two seasons and a second-place regular season finish during the 2017-18 season – the highest finish in 12 seasons. The Crusaders also made an appearance in the 2019 Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship for the first time in 15 years. Prior to Belmont Abbey, Rhodes was an assistant coach at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., for the 2016-17 season. He helped lead the team to a 25-8 finish and Region XIX Tournament title for the first time in five seasons. He coordinated team defense that led the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in steals per game with 19.2. Rhodes also led all player development workouts and coordinated all recruiting visits. Rhodes worked at his alma mater, UNC Wilmington, as a graduate assistant for the women's hoops team from 2014-16. During his two-year stint he designed camp and recruiting flyers, created highlight videos and assisted with social media. He also developed opposing team scouts, assisted with post player workouts and recruiting, as well as managed and led the scout team during practice. He also worked as the head manager for the Seahawks for two seasons (2012-14). Rhodes spent time as the Neuse Charter Middle School head coach (2009-12) and the Cleveland PRIDE Basketball travel team head coach (2007-12). He earned his Master of Arts in Liberal Studies in 2016 and his Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Sport Leadership and Tourism Management in 2014, both from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

This is one helluva pickup....... Radford has been one of the best Big South women's basketball programs for the past handful of years. It's good to have someone in our program who's well-versed with how play is in the conference we'll be joining next year.

Wonder if he will help them make layups and free throws? Hell that's the whole team not just the post players when it comes to missed layups and free throws .

On the surface a good hire in an area of need.Dittos on the layups and free throws but also footwork and post entry passes. We have recruited bigs well under coach but this could assist in broaden our reach.

It will be interesting to see, if he's the new post coach, can he teach the ladies a drop step, up and under, baby hook and the ability to pass to the open player (ala Lamona Smalley) when defenders come to them. Making plays in the paint and not turning the ball over. Robinson recruits size, but does not develop them that well. If he hired this coach, to teach and improve the play of his post players. That's a good needed decision by Robinson. Hopefully, it works out well for the team, provided he has all the pieces for a championship team. Kudos for the Lady Aggies team.
Now, Eaves was the worse in preparing his best big men. Coleman didn't learn to play that role until his senior year when a post coach was hired. He wasted three years. Whitter improved his overall game as a post/paint player, after Cy relieved him of his point forward position.

The post big women need work 4sure but what good is a post player with out a guard that can get them the ball on the block . Who will fill the role of facilitator among the returning guards .

A&T had six or more seniors on that team with a lot of experience. Their development or lack thereof has to be directed at the coach and his staff. People talk about losing Foy as the reason for their demise. Foy was a good speedy player who could have lead the team along with McCray to the championship, but Foy was a streaky player who would sometimes disappear in games, especially if she made a mistake or was taking a lot of threes and missing or turning the ball over. We can not use her as an excuse for losing, especially when you have a team made up of (all starters) seniors. The skill level was not developed.

well i wouldn't exactly call a 19-10 (11-5) season and a 4th place meac finish "losing". not meeting expectations, maybe. but i wouldn't call that "losing".
for me, the most disturbing aspect of last season wasn't our overall or conference record, nor our 4th place meac finish. to me, the most disturbing aspect of last season was "losing" to the lady buzzards 3 times in a row.
that's almost unforgiveable. but since coach rob has built up such an impressive overall record for a long time, he gets a "pass" this time. but i might feel much differently if it happens again this season...

I don't give Coach Rob a pass. He had an experienced team last year that had a winning record ... but.

A veteran team having a 19-10 overall record and an 11-5 conference record does not make for a good winning season. Especially, with a veteran team and multiple "so called" talent coming off the bench. The coach recruited all of those players and the majority were there for four years.
